Title: Beach Boys Compendium Post by: Spiritinthesky on August 27, 2012, 12:00:08 AM Anyone seen this App.
It has a Beach Boys quiz, video discography of all the albums; interactive location maps of key places in the band's history. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-beach-boys-compendium/id541389363?mt=8 Title: Re: Beach Boys Compendium Post by: The Shift on August 27, 2012, 12:44:41 AM Nice starting place for others to build upon perhaps.
The videos (which are essentially just YouTube links and not part of the app as such) are limited to portrait mode on my iPhone - when you revolve the phone the vid doesn't revolve to display in larger landscape format. As for the quiz... I never knew the BBs attempted a version of YNGMYM. I await the verdicts of those more knowledgeable than I regarding its accuracy! The discography's information is severely limited and could go into an awful lot more detail - if you own the CD there's likely more info in the sleeve notes every time. Add Some Music session: Susie Cincinnati/Good Time/You Never Give Me Your Money Someone's obviously trawled 10452. Then, I don't possess a retentive memory like some! Title: Re: Beach Boys Compendium Post by: Spiritinthesky on August 27, 2012, 06:14:26 AM I agree there is room from improvement on this, but interesting anyway. Will Apps become the new record players and they way we all get and listen to our favourite artists?

Will Apps become the new record players and they way we all get and listen to our favourite artists? Not for old farts like me. Physical = tangible = desirable. Digital = easily outdated, easily misfiled, easily lost, easily stolen, prone to software problems and more. Creates as many problems as it solves. Grumble grumble… am about to transfer my digital library to a remote harddrive to free up space on my Mac for stuff like, erm, work. If I screw up, that's a rather large collection of music down the pan. But at least I have a huge collection of CDs to fall back on. And vinyl(s).
