Title: Grammy Museum Show
Post by: southbay on August 23, 2012, 11:51:17 AM
Any further info on whether this thing is going to happen or not?  Nothing more since the post on Brian's website and the Grammy Museum won't confirm....

Oh man. Possibly my last chance ever to see that configuration vs rent due. Ohmanohmanohman. (paces around and refreshes CHASE account)

That's actually not a bad price considering what they were charging for VIP packages.   You get some type of free food for the $300 ticket, I would assume by the Wolfgang Puck party.  It's also a smaller venue than most of the places they played.

sell some possessions. once in a lifetime event. it's been scientifically proven that good memories make you happier than possessions so you'll be improving your baseline happiness levels, along with lightening the load your loved ones will have to deal with once you pass away in the distant future.

ooooooor sell some drugs, keep your possessions, see the legendary beach boys.

You're right. I gotta do it. I'm in! Anybody else?

(heads out to public park with box of inert sugarcubes)

If anybody goes, I'll be the guy screaming incoherently and slicing ALAN JARDINE into my chest and being subdued by security as blood spurts everywhere.

Hopefully, as I go down... Mike Love will point at me.

(Tier 1 /$300) ticket package includes:

Front section seating, photo with the Beach Boys, Wolfgang Puck reception and an autographed CD or vinyl.

Not saying this is cheap at all, but at least it's not like you're only paying for a ticket.
On the wrong coast for this unfortunately!

So tickets on sale at noon tomorrow, huh? I better get one. And plan on a Counter-Reception at In-N-Out Burger at these prices.

This is gonna be great! An acoustic In My Room will make up for all the jealousy I'm having over the overseas shows nicely!

Aaaaaaah. I don't know. If I do this I have to sell my front row ticket to a D'Angelo show next week. Crap crap crap. I'll probably go but CRAP.

Oooh thank you much! Now I have to call everyone I know and ask for their credit card numbers. =/

Good memories bring me pain because they remind me of what is no longer

I've been trying for 10 minutes straight...not a one.  Regardless if it's the American Express or Grammy Museum presale

I just got one via the Grammy Museum member presale (it's also Am Ex-only, very annoyingly). It was very nervewracking and I consider myself very lucky.

According to the box office it is completely sold out.

I got one $300 ticket at about 12:03. I got in right at 12 and kept getting the message that no tickets matching my request were available. I kept trying and on about the 6th try got one. I knew it would be tough since that Clive Davis theater seats only 200.  Keep an eye on Stubhub and similar sites, you never know...

I couldn't find anyone with a American Express card. Man.  I guess I will check stubhub, etc but I don't think I'm gonna pay much higher than face value and I imagine the scalpers are going to be go buckwild on these. There was nothing about them being non-transferable?

ETA: Actually, there is a good chance that they are holding some for public sale on September 10th. Has anyone tried calling the museum?

Congrats to those who got their ticket...apparently there are roughly 3000 Grammy members and with only 200 seats available...it wasn't going to be easy.  I logged on right at noon, searched, got nothing and repeated for 40 minutes straight....all while finding the one corner of free WIFI at the LA Courthouse during my jury duty lunch break.  Ah well.

The woman at the box office confirmed on the phone that the show was completely sold out and because of that there will be NO general sale for the public.  All tickets have been accounted for.

If the Grammy Museum is smart, they'll record it and put it online eventually.  It would generate a lot more interest for their organization than having 200 people get to see it.

I am kind of bummed, I was hoping to see some Smilers there.  I feel a bit bad I was one of the few lucky ones who got in

Aw man. Thanks, Justin. I'm sad I won't be able to go but happy for the Beach Boys. Selling out, within seconds, a virtually un-promoted show where the lowest price ticket was $100.

Congrats to everyone who got a ticket. Looking forward to reading about your experiences!
