Title: The Original Kokomo Post by: FatherOfTheMan Sr101 on August 20, 2012, 01:27:26 PM While reading the awesome "50 Sides of The Beach Boys" I found that John Philips recorded an early version of Kokomo. When I listened to it, I realized that the song itself is absolutely amazing, and is FAR FROM the Beach Boys "Classic"...

Granted, the production on the original is less grating and more natural, but otherwise, the changes were warranted. No version of Kokomo would make my list of favorite Beach Boys songs, but theirs is catchier and more exciting by a long stretch.
