I wanted to condense the white album to less then 40 minutes, or one LP. All the songs are in any order except the beginning and end.

How would you do it?

I like this list.

I'd swap out "Ob La Di" for "Glass Onion", "Blackbird" for "Martha My Dear", and "Long Long Long" for "Sexy Sadie".. or "Cry Baby Cry". 2 best later period Lennon songs imo.

I'm a hardcore Beatles fan but I don't think I've ever listened to Long Long Long in it's entirety. (avoids flying tomato)

I absolutely love Martha my Dear... It'd fit on Friends in my opinion! But honestly it doesn't fit with the album in this context

My premium White Album sounds like this:

While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Glass Onion
Piggies
Martha My Dear
Blackbird
Cry Baby Cry

Helter Skelter
Sexy Sadie
Mother Nature's Son
Julia
Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
Savoy Truffle

It rocks and rolls and it has its sensitive moments as well.

This is so hard...I need to think about it. The only tracks I could cut without second thought are Revolution 9, Good Night and Don't Pass Me By. Every other song is just so 'White Album' it wouldn't be acceptable to cut them. I'll fiddle with some playlists and see what works.

Nowadays, Revolution 9  is one of my favorites.  And the greatest!

I sometimes listen to it on its own even. In fact, I'm planning on  filling 2 whole sides of a 90 -minute cassette with Revolution no.9 , and this I will listen to on a continuous loop and I will allow It to wash over me as I notice my formation of complete, and clarified thoughts. It will provide me with an atmosphere of calmness. I calmness.

the real song on the album. and the greatest!

I dig what you're saying, but I couldn't include it on a 40 minute comp. it's just HAnds donw too long! you're nuts if you think it isn't halblainisgood.

Look at all those other songs - you'd have to remove 7 minutes worth on top of the 40 minute cut to add Revolution 9. Part of why I love The White Album so gosh darn much is just how large it feels. its a long, sprawling story that is tied together in the atmosphere the track create by being side by side. I just dunno how to condense and still retain that feeling.

I've recently come to the conclusion that this is the best Beatles album.

I'll work on cutting it down and get back to you.
