I'm a PS Box original speed man myself. Feels so much more natural, and I tend to bristle at anything with an overt Murray influence (it was Murray's idea to speed it up on the album). It's still Caroline, No. But personally, I've grown used to the sped up version. It's the one I heard first and grew to love. Was Murry right, I don't know, but at least his idea didn't ruin the song.

You can soak so much more into the song in its original speed. I can almost not even listen to the originally-released sped up version anymore, it lacks sooo much by comparison, especially due to the nuances in Brian's vocal delivery, and every shimmery moment of the backing track - both of these are diminished when sped up unnaturally. One of the few good musical ideas Murry Wilson ever had, to speed it up, and Brian agreed with it.

You can see what Brian was going for.
