Title: Mike Love's high notes Post by: Letsgoawayforawhile on July 28, 2012, 08:44:29 AM Obviously Mike usually goes the low route, but he has a pretty wonderful range. I was just wondering if there were any examples of him going higher, and beyond what you thought he could? And, what song with Mike on lead impressed the heck out of you most?

Title: Re: Mike Love's high notes Post by: musicismylife101 on July 28, 2012, 10:52:42 AM Same here. He goes pretty high on that and even a brief falsetto. One of his best songs vocally.

He sings plenty of falsetto there. And even if it sounds miserable because it's a joke, he shows he could hit the notes. Title: Re: Mike Love's high notes Post by: Mr. Cohen on July 28, 2012, 11:11:23 AM Am I the only who's shocked that Mike hasn't named one of his solo albums Mike Love To You?
Title: Re: Mike Love's high notes Post by: Jukka on July 28, 2012, 12:18:23 PM He should cover The Stone Roses' Love Spreads.
Also, say what you want about Sumahama, but Mike's highish vocals are just beautiful. Title: Re: Mike Love's high notes Post by: Aegir on July 28, 2012, 12:28:56 PM Aren't You Glad! Definitely one of Mike's best vocals.
Title: Re: Mike Love's high notes Post by: runnersdialzero on July 28, 2012, 12:40:40 PM "All I Want To Do" seems pretty high in his range and is a great vocal performance. "All I Wanna Do" indeed has a bit of rarely heard falsetto from teh lovesterzzz, which is also well performed.

Yes! Title: Re: Mike Love's high notes Post by: Letsgoawayforawhile on July 30, 2012, 07:58:28 AM Mike hits quite high notes on 10 Little Indians ("...never did a thing"), That's Not Me ("I miss my..."), Sunshine ("Sailing on..." etc.), Here Today ("a BRAND... IS..."), All Summer Long. That's all I can recall at this moment. And agree with Cassius vs. Sonny, AIWD, AIWTD & Sumahama. As for the 2nd question, first song where I was impressed by Mike's vocals - Add Some Music to Your Day; from all the vocals I liked his the most & thought he's the best singer of the group. Thanks! Yeah, he did great on that one. I wish Bruce had bigger parts in it though. His voice sounds great on it.
