Title: Track 4 on the Marksmen CD Post by: MBE on July 25, 2012, 02:30:06 AM I was very happy to pick up an autographed copy of David's Marksmen recordings but wondered if my copy was defective. Track four Crusin' has a weird degregated sound not heard on any other track. Is this so on all copy's or did I get a bad one?

I think I read somewhere that it is acetate sourced. I'll have to see if I can find where I read that, I thought it was in the liner notes from the CD, but it's not there. Title: Re: Track 4 on the Marksmen CD Post by: MBE on July 30, 2012, 12:05:53 AM Congratulations, Mr. Eder! You must've been very happy for getting that copy! Sadly I didn't get to meet Dave but they were selling them at the shows and I had always wanted to pick it up. Wish they had his other rare CD's there too! Thanks for the info everyone. Glad my copy is good. I was able to find the "I Wanna Cry" and the Sundazed 45's but I can't find those other singles anywhere. This is rare stuff indeed.Back to the subject. I have this recording in my collection and the 4th track sonic-wise is indeed dull. As if it was done intentionally to be vintage and "wall-of-sounding" (the voices are messy, they're like some mixture), don't know how to explain. So no, you haven't got a bad copy, I guess this case is on all The Marksmen's recordings. |
