Title: Frank Zappa reissues Post by: clinikillz on July 07, 2012, 01:37:40 PM http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/06/12/mothers-day-in-july-frank-zappa-reissues-on-the-way/
Anyone else looking forward to this? I seriously hope the original mixes are used instead of the Barking Pumpkin remixes that have been out forever. I really need to pick up Freak Out!, Absolutely Free and Hot Rats. Title: Re: Frank Zappa reissues Post by: hapman on July 07, 2012, 08:41:47 PM The original mix of Freak Out! is available on the 2006 MOFO Project/Object box set. And it sounds wonderful. It has that wonderful 60s LA studio sound I love so much.
The original mix of Hot Rats was re-issued on vinyl a few years ago. Since this reissue business is a ZFT affair, I don't have high hopes, my guess is they will use the 80s FZ remixes AGAIN. Title: Re: Frank Zappa reissues Post by: Mike's Beard on July 09, 2012, 03:31:10 AM I think they are going with the FZ approved mixes from the early 90's. I'm just glad they are going to be available again as the out of print Ryko reissues are going for silly prices on ebay and amazon these days. Having said that, however, the Zappa Trust have charged through the nose for some of Frank's post death albums, such as Wazoo and Greasy Love Songs.
