Is there any legal way to hear the single mix in acceptable quality?  I don't think it's on YouTube or Spotify.

Maybe. I purchased the casette single (hey, it was 1989) when it came out.  It was the same mix as the album version. Very disapointing. The only time I have heard the "single" mix is on the video.

Gimme a min - I have the remix - I'll do a higher quality upload. It is longer, but has the same intro, so It'll do

Here ya Go, High quality version! - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGVK9zTYIlU&feature=youtu.be (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGVK9zTYIlU&feature=youtu.be)

Thanks for the upload.  Having listened to both, I definitely prefer the album mix, but only because I'm a sucker for 12-string guitars.  Al's verse at the end sounds kind of overly processed too, though.
