I don't know if you're interested in this but it at least has a nice picture: (http://cdn.newsday.com/polopoly_fs/1.3798852.1340383440!/httpImage/image.JPG_gen/derivatives/display_600/image.JPG) Title: Re: The Beach Boys - Our top 50 hits (newsday list) Post by: Doo Dah on June 25, 2012, 02:05:27 PM Johnny Carson and Student Demonstration Time?? Outstanding. :afro
Imagine hearing those in the setlist. I'd dig it. Title: Re: The Beach Boys - Our top 50 hits (newsday list) Post by: MaxL on June 25, 2012, 02:07:05 PM They're certainly not selling many of the songs:
""Friends" - A waltz type of song where a sneeze can be heard 2:01 in." :-D Also you don't see "Wipeout" on many Top BB songs lists. I hope they never do SDT live or that it is ever releaed again on anything, even reissues of Surf's Up, just replace it with a Dennis song.
Title: Re: The Beach Boys - Our top 50 hits (newsday list) Post by: TimeToGetAlone on June 25, 2012, 02:29:08 PM Not a single song from Sunflower or Side Two of Today? :-\ At least they actually bothered to make a list of 50 rather than some generic top 10, but that's a list that could be vastly improve I think. I certainly hope that's not the order either, because Surf's Up at 40 would be shameful.
Title: Re: The Beach Boys - Our top 50 hits (newsday list) Post by: MaxL on June 25, 2012, 02:41:10 PM I think they just randomly picked the hits and had a scan of Wikipedia since all the descriptions for the songs are either entirely obvious, have little to do with the actual song or is just a piece of un-noteworthy trivia straight from the Wikipedia page (see: the "Friends" cough) ::)
Title: Re: The Beach Boys - Our top 50 hits (newsday list) Post by: Magic Transistor Radio on June 25, 2012, 02:57:08 PM How is Hang on to Your Ego a hit? I love the song, but it doesn't make sense. Also I think Come Go With Me is a bit high, if it should be top 50 at all.

Also I think Come Go With Me is a bit high, if it should be top 50 at all. "Come Go With Me" at least was a moderate success (or 'hit'), in contrast to numerous other songs on this thoughtless and lazy list.Title: Re: The Beach Boys - Our top 50 hits (newsday list) Post by: shelter on June 26, 2012, 04:50:23 AM I think they just randomly picked the hits and had a scan of Wikipedia since all the descriptions for the songs are either entirely obvious, have little to do with the actual song or is just a piece of un-noteworthy trivia straight from the Wikipedia page (see: the "Friends" cough) ::) That's exactly what my first impression was. |
