Todays terrible idea appears to be trying to actually do work on my project. Bah.

Overdub your own vocals to someone else's song to make a duet. 

Hypehat, weren't you at some point planning to write music to a proposed movie about a guy with a split personality that revealed it self as four or five members of an oldschool doo wop group - or something along those lines?  :) I remember that it was the kind of idea that lots of people would deem terrible, yet I loved it. The things is,... now I can't remember exactly what the idea was...

I once had the grand idea of making a 23 minute "suite"...in the style of Revolution 9.  ;D I actually have about ten or so minutes of "experiments"(read: noise) done using various sound effects on an old keyboard I used to have. It's on a cassette buried in my room somewhere.

At one point I was working on  8-bit versions of Love You and Smile.

My band has a song called 'Arcade Blooze', and there's a sample from a porno. The 'hi-hats' are actually a sample of the guy being...um...manually stimulated. In my defense, this was recorded in 2003 and we were really really stoned.

Oh yeah, but you'd do that with like purposefully distressed sleeves (poss. with custom nonsensical graffiti) and slightly crappy pressing quality so it looks/sounds like you found a 'cool' old 70's rock record from a band you can only assume toiled in obscurity until the drummer went back to working in Burger King for £2 in a record store bargain bin and you can tell people about that cool record. And then they go 'Dude, that's a Nickelback album.'


I'd run a f***ing incredible record label.

'Arcade Blooze'  is on there.  You can hear the 'whack whack' throughout (...), the part where the chick says 'Good Lord Honey' is truncated from 'Good Lord Honey, don't want it to get on the couch' (!!!), and the ending melodies are made up of various samples (turning on the original 1989 Gameboy, the main synth sound from the NES Game Tecmo Super Bowl, and think there's a Tetris block falling in there somewhere)

Why did no-one tell me I sound like a fucking lush when I talk? Fucking narration is my bad idea for the day. bah.

Revive for my bad ideas of late!

Doing a Basement Tapes with my friends, despite their lack of musical ability and, indeed, my lack of a Basement.
Doing everything using iPhone apps recorded direct into the computer, which means i can now edit precisely NOTHING.
Recording a medley of My Baby Love Love Loves Me, by Jonathan Richman, and You, by George Harrison, as one is a chorus without much of a verse and the other is a verse without much of a chorus and they have the same chord sequence.
Doing a 36 track score when I have a metric f***tonne of work to do.
Spending my paycheque not on rent or food, which is about all it covers, but on a mandolin.
Not quitting smoking to get a huskier voice (I think this is the terriblest idea of all)

How about making "smiley smile" versions of spiritualized songs?

Working on a project that

1. Doesn't follow normal time signatures
2) Changes key every couple of measures
3)Contains 'erotic samples' and binaural beats
4)Features me singing
5) has a track where every 'instrument sound' is made up of body part sounds (i.e. joint popping). Who needs a 'farty' synth when you can have the real thing! :lol

This is not for release, but rather to see how intentionally awful music can be. The tentative title is Hate You .

And yes, I'm 100% serious.

I got a couple of tracks finished including 'Blanket Faps'. I'm not sure the harpsichord and the drum machine go together but maybe the poetry holds it together...

Also finished a track called '5 Lil Dux'. Here are the lyrics...and yes, they really are that ridiculous.
