Title: NME Best Songs Of It's Lifetime
Post by: Disney Boy (1985) on June 22, 2012, 12:19:40 AM
NME (UK music magazine) has conducted a list of the Greatest Songs released during the magazine's lifetime i.e. roughly the last fifty or so years.

The Beach Boys have two songs in the Top 20 (the only band to do so i think, though i'll have to double check next time i'm in WH Smiths):

18. God Only Knows

4. Good Vibrations

Not bad eh? The highest Beatles entry is A Day In The Life at 15. Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division was at the top spot - a fabulous song, but i wouldn't say the greatest of the last fifty years. Still, great to see the BB's placing so highly, especially in a mag usually prone to acting desperately (depressingly) hip. I really think with every passing year the BB's reputation is growing in stature - compare how well they're generally thought of today compared to a couple of decades ago.

It's because internet makes all their unknown music readily available and most people today have forgotten how dreadful the 80's were in terms of their 'hipness'
