Title: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: Waspinators on June 05, 2012, 10:24:09 PM This, along with MIU/LA (which for some reason is OOP though I bought a legal d/l), Hawthorne, the Christmas album and S&S (which I have 0 interest in despite being available everywhere) is the only Beach Boys album I'm missing. Now that the shame of it potentially being the last original BB album has vanished, I'd really like to own this album. Anywhere I've found it, it's been selling used for ungodly prices that I'd rather not gut my wallet for. Is there any place on the net that I can find a decently priced used copy? Or at the very least a legal download? It's a bit hard to sleep at night knowing there's a Beach Boys studio album that isn't at least on my iTunes. Peas and carrots.
Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: Ron on June 05, 2012, 10:32:09 PM At least for the Christmas album, you should still be able to buy that one at any major music store, you'll probably have to go to an indy store though because none of the big box places still stock anything other than greatest hits, or new releases. Last Chrstmas my local indy store had the Beach Boys christmas CD everywhere.

Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: MBE on June 05, 2012, 11:26:03 PM Try ebay.
Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: NatureShowInStereo on June 05, 2012, 11:43:45 PM I saw SIP at my local Disc-Go-Round for about $30 and laughed my ass off. "Well Amazon has it listed for more than that, so I can't lower the price at all," says the guy behind the counter. If he ever listened to it, I'm sure the price would drop. Funny thing is that since that day, it's been sold. I can't believe someone paid that much for so little.
Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: Beach Boy on June 06, 2012, 12:00:10 AM 6 years ago I got "lucky" with getting a used copy around 35 Euro, that's the most I paid for any single CD and it wasn't even the US version, which is superiour. Well at least the title track. And I am not sure about that but I think the US citizens even got a great artwork poster.
Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: joshferrell on June 06, 2012, 12:14:56 AM you already answered your own question in the title of the thread...yes you have to go to hell to get a copy of it.. :lol
Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: GuyO on June 06, 2012, 05:31:14 AM I bought a brand new SIP in Malakka, Malaysia for something like €7 in november 2006. Had to drag it across the globe for 7 months before getting home.
Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: bcdam on June 06, 2012, 11:22:26 AM Since it's out of print, and the only way you're going to find it is used (IE, no money to the beach boys, record companies, etc) you might as well try and find a download of it. Unless you want to pay $35 or more for it.
Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: MaxL on June 06, 2012, 11:47:04 AM It pops up on eBay every now and then for a decent price (under £20) every now and then. I snagged it for £12 about a year and a half ago. I enjoy the album, so I don't feel like I got a bad deal.

Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: TheLazenby on June 06, 2012, 01:49:43 PM Only time I ever saw a physical copy of SIP was last year - an FYE store in Pittsburgh had it for $14.
I didn't buy it though; I wasn't working yet, and my scanty money was NOT going to that sh*t. Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: southbay on June 06, 2012, 02:29:17 PM There are 5 copies of SIP on US ebay right now
Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: Rocker on June 06, 2012, 02:29:52 PM Be sure though to listen to Willie Nelson's "Warmth of the sun" That was on your copy of SIP? I wish it was....I wish it was....... ::) Of course not, I was just mentioning it, because he said he has no desire to listen to Stars & Stripes. (btw I like SIP) Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: lee on June 06, 2012, 02:39:38 PM Keep checking ebay for SIP. I bought a copy at auction (not buy it now pricing) on ebay about 5 months ago for $27. Not too bad a price considering what the greedy sellers on Amazon want for it. I got a copy of Hawthorne on ebay a few months ago as well for about $15. If you keep watching and are patient, you'll find copies at decent prices.

Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: startBBtoday on July 01, 2012, 09:42:54 AM Anyone know how much a Summer In Paradise cassette goes for these days?
Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: Jason on July 01, 2012, 09:58:19 AM It should be reissued. It's part of the band's oeuvre, whether the fans want to admit it or not.
Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: Freddie French-Pounce on July 01, 2012, 10:30:14 AM You mean these? ;D
(http://www.majhost.com/gallery/bionicool123/other/SIP/img1125.jpg) I paid a combined £18 for the two (at separate times). Just look and they will appear! (Still need the LP though!) Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: JohnMill on July 01, 2012, 11:12:00 AM It should be reissued. It's part of the band's oeuvre, whether the fans want to admit it or not. Maybe from a fan's or completest perspective but if I'm The Beach Boys I'm not going near that record with a barge pole anytime soon. There is a lot of positive buzz surrounding the band with the C50 and keeping what is arguably the nadir of their released catalog off the shelves is probably a good move. Best way to get it. Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: drbeachboy on July 01, 2012, 11:26:23 AM It should be reissued. Post by: CosmicDancer on July 03, 2012, 05:49:36 AM I lucked out (if you consider owning a copy of this mess of an album lucky. It's certainly debatable.) and found a copy of US version at a local used music/book store for $5 here in the US. It's the only physical copy I've ever seen in a store. In this same store, I found a copy of Stars & Stripes for $3. I still think I may have gotten ripped off on both purchases. :)
Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: Wah Wah Wah Ooooo on July 03, 2012, 06:15:28 AM It's 2012, the Beach Boys are reunited for a critically acclaimed album and 50th anniversary celebration tour, and the top 2 threads on this message board are about "Summer In Paradise."
Something is wrong with that. Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: shelter on July 03, 2012, 06:21:52 AM It's really inessential. Only for the most hardcore fans. Thing is, if you're a real fan of a band, you want to be able to say that you own all their albums. And for that, you also need to have a copy of SiP. I suppose that's the main reason why this album sold any copies at all. Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Something is wrong with that. No, it's cool. We can remember the time when The Beach Boys still had a really bad last album and laugh about it now. ;D Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? (Confession: I do love "Caroline, No" on that album) Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: Aegir on July 03, 2012, 06:47:31 AM I don't mind this album, or Stars and Stripes. I haven't listened to Stars and Stripes in years, though. but I listen to ol' Summer in Paradise every so often.
Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: GoofyJeff on July 03, 2012, 07:23:41 AM I haven't listened to SIP in a while, but I'm sure my family will forever be tormented by the memories of me blasting it out of my stereo constantly when it came out and for a year or two after that...
Hmm, maybe THAT is why they don't like our Boys... It's all starting to make sense now! LOL Title: Re: Where the hell can I find Summer in Paradise? Post by: jeffh on July 03, 2012, 11:35:51 AM I love the title track, especially the UK version.
