Title: TWGMTR Guardian Review and links to 5 songs Post by: buddhahat on May 31, 2012, 08:19:44 AM http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2012/may/31/beach-boys-thats-why-review
I like Petridish and his feelings towards the album are kind of in line with my own (or at least what I've heard so far - obviously not the 2 other songs from the 'suite'). Negative stuff aside, it's great to see such a glowing critique of 2012 BB songs, by a young relatively hip reviewer (albeit clearly a fan). Unbelievable really. Also some links to 5 full songs from the album on The Guardian site which I missed yesterday. Aplogies if already posted. FTTBA is incredible, and if I didn't know otherwise I'd think Brian had been sitting on Isn't It Time since the late 70s: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2012/may/30/album-stream-beach-boys-god-radio?INTCMP=ILCNETTXT3487 Title: Re: TWGMTR Guardian Review Post by: Sea Devil on May 31, 2012, 08:28:23 AM this is how i imagine most reviews will go down: everyone will enjoy the last three tracks; some will be complimentary on a couple of others like TWGMTR, Isn't It Time and Shelter, but only total masochist fans like me will enjoy Spring Vacation!

Title: Re: TWGMTR Guardian Review and links to 5 songs Post by: Runaways on May 31, 2012, 09:21:51 AM Y'know I kinda would have liked a little more in depth look at it. Nothing crazy, but a paragraph of Spring Vacation seems a bit much. It pretty much says everything till the end sucks and I'm gonna guess it's not quiiite like that.

Title: Re: TWGMTR Guardian Review and links to 5 songs Post by: buddhahat on May 31, 2012, 10:55:43 AM I was expecting far worse from The Guardian. Did you read their review of The Gershwin album? His BW/BB pieces are always well considered - he's alright in my book.

It's not exactly unexpected that music critics would flip over Brian's suite and make sniffy noises at fun in the sun, cruisin', money n' spring stuff.
