Yes. Yes, it is.

A 'somewhat' normal (after all, it's Brian..^^) human being like Brian Wilson wouldn't match the definition of "angel" in any lore or religion I'm familiar with.  ;)
Sure, at times he has a certain "angelic" quality about him, especially young Brian singing or Brian (at any age) saying certain things, but the reason it strikes us as special, angelic or out-of-this-world is the simple fact that everything else surrounding Brian and his life is (for better or worse) a very human experience. What is wonderful is how these 'angelic moments' created by Brian make people happy and forget about their own very human experience for the average two and a half minutes.  :) That at least is similar to certain aspects of the supposed field of work of an angel.


I think the 'Jesus analogy' is actually much closer to Brian's life. Being crucified (by the band) for his beliefs (SMiLE for instance), disappearing for a certain time span and then gloriously returning with something that still carries the beliefs he was given a hard time for, and thus bringing happiness to people (BWPS in 2004). I know, it's all a bit far-fetched and everything, but, you know...  ;D

And the part where Jesus Brian confounded Capitol Records Vice President for A&R Pontius Pilate by answering charges of (anti-commercial) heresy with cassette tape loops of inscrutable phrases such as "I like that idea" and "No Comment"

The original Jesus would have killed for a machine like that.

I should have been more clear:

Brian Wilson actually DID try to give Children LSD.  I'm not supposing it's something he would do as a Jesus figure.

My point is holding Brian up to a Jesus standard isn't going to get us very far, and I think he'd probably readily admit he's not Jesus or an Angel.  

That may be the new criteria though, if Brian doesn't appear as Jesus on the new Beach Boys album the album's no good.  

Everybody knows that anecdote.
