Stamos = heir apparent to Dennis Wilson.  Hey, if people can say Foskett is the new Carl . . .

Aww nuts! He'd better not hog the spotlight when they come to my town. "Forever" is about celebrating Dennis, dammit! I'll bet Stamos sabotaged the video screen so he could take over.

They opened the second set: the pitch black stage gains some light to reveal all the Beach Boys gathered around Brian's piano on the one end of the stage, (Al leaning on the piano), singing together, "Add Some Music To Your Day".  Photo Op of the century.  It's like they've been reading our diaries.  Everyone got their cameras out for that one.

I"ll post my video if no other clips are posted by others by Friday.

Before Marcella began, Brian began playing the chords and humming the melody all by himself as the others looked on.  Brian has really, really perked up on these two Beacon shows.  It honestly looks like he's doing his own solo show over there in his corner, he's that more animated now than he was earlier in the tour.  He played a little piano bit during a moment in between songs and it made Mike laugh by the randomness of it.  Brian got another ovation after "I Just Wasn't Made..." (as he did last night) and he took in the applause and then said: "Okay, that's enough!"  Everyone on stage broke up.  The energy between Mike and Brian is intense...such...here it comes: good vibrations between those two.  It is SO obvious on stage.  Mike gave Brian several thumbs up and smiles throughout the show, as signs of support--all of which Brian accepted and responded back with either a nod or a big smile back.  In fact, EVERYONE on stage was showing their support of Brian.  David would just turn and smile to Brian, as if asking if he was okay.  Al would make eye contact and smile at Brian.  It was such a team effort.  Brian, I can, tell feeds off it.  There's nice interplay between Mike and Brian when Brian gets up to play the bass....Mike's up there smiling at him.  During the bows, Mike and Brian give each other pats on the back and both night whisper something to each other.  Such a great sight to see those two cousins together on stage.  I couldn't get enough of Brian standing there right next to Mike.  I took as many pictures as I could of those two.  I'll post later.

Awesome. I think this was always the hope for the tour, that Brian would at a certain point relax and groove along with the show. Sounds like it has happened, and not a bit too soon!

'Add Some Music' around the piano sounds great. I think after the Fallon show and 'In My Room" they are starting to see the posibilities that the goup of 5 have and they are getting confident. More the better!

I'd love for them to add Good Timin' and Honkin' Down The Highway. It would also be very cool if they did something really odd, like You Need A Mess Of Help To Stand Alone.  8)

I also gotta say that "That's Why God Made The Radio" performed live is fucking intense.  It's just a wall of harmonies and voices coming full throttle at you..it really is moving to witness.  It made me respect the song so much more.  You can tell they're proud of it just by how much they give themselves to the song when they do it live.

Check out the version of Please Let Me Wonder at that show. It would be interesting if Brian played around with the melody like that again(albeit, slightly less "shouty").

Very interesting thing happened tonight:  after Stamos filled in for "Be True To Your School" on drums...he left the kit almost immediately.  Cowsill didn't come up to sit back down.  So the drum set remained empty while everyone else was ready to start the next song.  Stamos made it down to where Foskett was, chatting a bit with him when it became obvious that Stamos forgot toalso  play on this next song coming up here.  Instead of waiting for Stamos to run all the way up the riser to the drums...Scott Bennett rushes over from his keyboard and jumps on the drums and proceeds to NAIL IT on "Don't Worry Baby."  WTF?  I have never see Scott play drums before and didn't know he could sub like that.  But he took care of business like he was the one playing it all this time on the tour.  He knew all the changes, knew all the right fills....totally impressed by that.  Way to go Scott!

Yep. Scott has toured with Brian on drums before. In the summer of 2008, Brian did a string of hits shows with a stripped-down, six-piece backing band. IIRC, this was the lineup:

Brian -- Lead vocals (no keys, really)
Foskett -- Guitar
Walusko -- Guitar
Gary Griffin -- Keys
Probyn -- Bass
Scott -- Drums
Nelson -- Percussion

A strange series of shows, but Scott was quite good. Probyn is playing bass again this tour, by the way ... when Mikey is behind the drumset, that is.

Saw that tour! Two shows @ a Vancouver, BC casino. Stripped down acoustic style, but great energy. Brian was particularly loose those shows, performing w/o a teleprompter and genuinely in good spirits.

Every day again I have to convince myself that all of this is actually true. Rub my eyes. Tell myself that that whole internet thing is not some delusional invention of my feverish mind. That the Boys actually are together again, and doing this, with a killer band, and all in the best of spirits.

There is a benevolent God, and this is proof.

Wow, this is by far the best setlist yet during this tour!  I'm really hoping to hear all this at the 3 shows I plan to go to!!!  As much as I love it, I think that dropping The Little Girl I Once Knew in favor of Marcella was a great move...it's much easier for people who are unfamiliar with Marcella to get into that than into TLGIOK.

Man, I really wanna hear Marcella 2012 with Mike doing Mike's part!!!  :o

hat "That's Why God Made The Radio" performed live is f*cking intense.

Agree totally, Justin. When they soundchecked the song in Atlanta it hit me how spiritual and dynamic the chorus is live ... as silly as it sounds, my soul got that same shivery lift on the vibe break that the a capella ending of "This Whole World" has always given me. Seeing it performed---feeling it performed---really made me fall in love with it.

Dear Beach Boys, your setlist is getting better and better.
Now, if you would eliminate all the hits and replace them with obscure album tracks, this place would make triple back saltos.
Thanks in advance!

I'm a little bummed they dropped The Little Girl I Once Knew.
Add it back for the Bethlehem show next week, puh-lease? That's a fantastic song, one of my favorites.

Ditto for me!

My 1st BB 45!

It is a great song!  ;)

I'm seeing them Saturday, so I'm really excited that we could get Add Some Music AND Marcella. I hope they stay in the set!

And I tried not to bitch because of how much I love these songs, but hey-- as a BB fan on a message board, it feels like my duty to complain. I really wished they had dropped one of the covers or car songs instead of Little Girl I Once Knew, which is a great song they've been kicking ass on throughout this tour.

Ah well. No matter what they play, I'll be in heaven.

Dear Beach Boys, your setlist is getting better and better.
Now, if you would eliminate all the hits and replace them with obscure album tracks, this place would make triple back saltos.

Yea, and the theater audience would look like their 1968 visit to New York. Don't get me wrong, I love when they do the deeper cuts, but there is not a damn thing wrong with any of their hits. I'm proud of my Boys!

Gee, I got the  ::) from AGD. I musta said something real obvious, like it was a "Duh" moment. Now I feel soooooo dumb, eh?  ::)

I was just speculating. It ain't obvious to me that Foskett or Totten or whoever is reading this board and feeding back our song requests to the band. Not sure that it really matters what we want in their setlists.  But if it does.....

Darlin' and Breakaway and California Saga please!  And Funky Pretty would be cool too!

Man, we're sure getting some great songs out of this tour!

Oh, wait!  ::)

Justin,

did you notice if this show was being filmed for future use in a dvd by chance?  Also, you're an LA guy, right?  You flew to NY just for this show?  You called that one right...

And another thing, Scott Totten (or whoever else is reading), you've GOT TO do the Add Some Music/ Piano/ 2d set opening at the Hollywood Bowl. It is guaranteed to bring the 20,000 hometown fans to our feet.

I hope that every song will be recorded for future release. I couldn't stand not hearing e.g. "Marcella" from this band....

Oh yeah, Funky Pretty and Honkin' Down The Highway were awesome !   ;)

"Photo Op of the century" he says. "Everyone got their cameras out for that one" he says.  Where the freak are the pictures?  Nothing posted here.  Nothing on facebook. Nothing on the freaking interwebs. Nothing. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Come on guys.

Good post.  Thanks for that.

Looking forward to the video clips of 'Marcella' and 'Add Some Music'.

Very excited about the new developments in the set list!

Decided to visit the Benedum box office personally yesterday, and apparently the upper deck seats are gone. Only available ones are scattered in the orchestra section (btw - total capacity is 2,800).  I'll be there in Pittsburgh on Friday - right in the middle floor orchestra, about 17 rows back. Aisle seat.  ;)

Timing is EVERYTHING. You need good timin'.

The village voice essay was terrible; I posted the following comment about it on the VV site:

The essay states:
Up front with Love and Jardine is David Marks, who replaced Jardine briefly in 1962-The essay states: "1963 (though stage-parent Murry Wilson never let him near a mic on album), and who also played in the totally excellent late '60s psych outfit Moon ("She's On My Mind" would have been a great bust-out). He gets an occasional guitar solo, too."

This is reductive, inaccurate, and misleading. DM plays on each of the 5 first BB albums and sings harmony and at least one lead vocal (Summertime Blues).  You make him seem a afterthought, when, in actuality, he wrote many of the famous guitar parts that he is now dramatically shredding, such as those to 409 and Surfin' Safari.  You pay some proper heed to the band and to the historicity of the event, but I am constantly amazed, as an English professor, that too many critics can find only one "tone" to adopt in their critical prose: a snarky, wise-guy, aren't we too cool for this air of condescending, begrudging near dismissal. Since too many of you hipsters write like this, you all sound the same and, thus, not so hip, Village Voice. read the NYT piece, which comprehends poignancy better than you did. You barely tried.

I notice that "Dave replaced Al... BRIEFLY" meme popping up in more than a few of these reviews and the inaccuracy of it really bugs me. No BB's fan outside of Hawthorne ever heard the name Al Jardine until 1964 after the band had already sold millions of records. David was in the Beach Boys lineup that became FAMOUS and SUCCESSFUL. Yes Al was a founder and is on that first single, but no one knew that until after Murry did his history re-write and expunged Dave from the rise to fame story. Hard to believe so many in the media still cling to that myth and think of Al as one of the guys on those first hits.

My understanding is that Dave is on the first four (4) albums and possibly one or two instrumental tracks on the fifth.

My understanding is that Dave actually shared the lead vocal with Carl on "Summertime Blues".  And it seems to me that Carrie (or Jon) once said that Dave also sang on another one, but can't remember which one.

This show was so swingin', rockin', beautiful, and heavy that I finally took the plunge and created an account after many a night spent lurking in the shadows of the board.

Being quite the youngster, with only a couple decades + 2 on my life experience belt, I've only seen Al's band with David and Mike & Bruce. Al & David's show was intimate and fun, and Mike and Bruce made sure their band took good care of these historical jewels we call Beach Boys songs. The thing about those shows was, they were fun and enjoyable. The songs sounded good, and everyone was in good spirits. But this show...seeing & hearing Brian, Mike, Al, David, Bruce, and the incredible backing band perform these songs...was a religious experience to say the least. These songs came alive in such an intense and special way. It literally felt like being inside the music, as if these songs were physical entities you could step into. It was like tumbling into the world inside my headphones.

David's guitar shrieked and swarmed over the audience as he tore out his heart, took a bite, and threw it on the audience during his solo's. This tour would not have been complete without David Lee Marks. The way the guys constantly praised Brian, give him little looks, nods, and smiles throughout the show, was beautiful. I couldn't help but harken back to this video as I watched David, Mike, and Brian during Surfin' Safari: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74rreG0k5lA and think about time traveling to pull one of those Hawthorne kids into the future, probably David, and bring them to this show 50 years later. Now, to the songs!

Marcella! What a wonderful surprise! It sounded so fantastic and full. Before the song, as mentioned previously, Brian was playing the keyboard and doing some ooohohhhohh's, which was, for all intents and purposes, watching Brian Wilson jam for a few seconds. I thought that little preparation he was doing sounded like I Feel So Fine, and I couldn't help but wonder who slipped him some white stuff. I had to promptly explain to my girlfriend what "The Cocaine Sessions" were. At the end of Brian's noodling, Al got to the mic and sang "I have a girlfriend..." then said, "is that what you're playing?" I thought to myself, "wow! snippets of I Feel So Fine AND I'm So Young!" But then Marcella came out of the instruments and vocal chords, and pulled me by my ears back into the music. Stamos sort of took me out of the music for a moment with his drum solo before BTTYS, but that's what you get with Stamos, and if I had a chance to do a drum solo at a sold out Beach Boys show, I'd be wailin' before Mike even had a chance to go "wheeeeeeen" (which was extremely shortened tonight, and he didn't do his usual "old guy needs help getting up" routine with it). We're spoiled because John Cowsill's drumming is so tastefully perfect and hard hitting at the same time.

When the light went on over Brian's piano and all the guys were standing there, I thought they would all go back to their respective spots, but I noticed Al holding a mic between him and Bruce, and all of a sudden Add Some Music begins, and Mike tells me exactly what the Sunday morning gospel goes good with. It seemed like they were all still getting a grip on the song, reading the lyrics on top of the piano (Mike from Brian's teleprompter), and David seemed like he didn't exactly know what he was doing, but, Lord, those vocals. After the song, Bruce said something that sounded like, "first time in 41 years", but I may stand to be corrected on the accuracy of that. Heroes and Villains got a HUGE standing ovation that lasted, what seemed like, a good couple minutes. The guys seemed very appreciative of that. It made me wish even more than I normally do everyday that I had seen a live Brian Wilson Smile show after watching Nelson Bragg on the percussion of H&V. In fact, Nelson and Cowsill are a hell of a team. I went in expecting to watch Mike, Brian, David, Bruce, and Al the most, but the backing band is hard to take your eyes off of. That energy! Having a night sky filled with stars on the projector screen during parts of God Only Knows was a beautiful backdrop to Carl singing. I Just Wasn't Made for These Times was Brian in top form, singing his heart out. He really reached for some of those notes, grabbing 'em from above his head, and gracefully guiding them back into his larynx.

Again, as somewhat of a youngster, I'm not used to sit down concerts. I went with the ebbs and flows of the audience to be respectful, but I would have much rather been standing & grooving for songs like H&V and This Whole World, especially as I was completely within the music. What a special night. Go see this show!

Thank you for the review, Covalt. With moments like the ones you mentioned, this sounds like a great tour. I love that Brian was feeling a little more laid back and spontaneous with his musical family. I just HOPE they keep "Add Some Music" in their setlist.... the idea of them opening the second set and singing that around the piano sounds like a near religious moment. Can't wait till the hollywood bowl show!  8)

Thanks for the welcome. Yes, Brian sang lead on Marcella. He was really groovin' with it, too. The Forever video worked perfectly, and was very touching. My eyes teared, and my mouth was agape, marveling at its beauty the entirety of the song. Brian sounded particularly good on the "DoDoDoDoDoDo's" during the God Only Knows bridge, and I noticed him open his mouth to start singing the next line, probably just out of habit at this point, before realizing he got to sit back and listen to his brother croon it.

I've read a few articles that seemed to diplomatically but correctly describe their roles in the band. How hard is it to say "David Marks, who played on the band's albums in their early years."

I dunno, I suppose a writer who doesn't take the time to learn that there are decades of dry spells creatively in the band might consider Dave's tenure of a few years brief in light of it being their "50th Anniversary."

Thank you for that heartfelt review. It is the (religious) experience, isn't it? I have been to a few of those types of Beach Boys shows. It also helps when the audience is appreciative and into it. The band knows it and feels it, and affects the performance. You will remember it the rest of your life. I know that I do.

Damn, these threads are just killing me - my show at the end of June can't come soon enough.  The set list, the camaraderie of the band, just the whole thing - mind blowing.

Still hard to believe it's all actually happening, ya know?

I'm chomping. I have 9 more days to go until my show. Just hoping Autotune & Stamos doesn't kill the buzz. ;)

I love how when Brian comes in on "Surfer Girl" everyone goes crazy. It reminds of of Seinfeld When Kramer would enter the apartment.

Check out Disney Girls, Brian is really felling the harmonies at the end

As much as I love it, I think that dropping The Little Girl I Once Knew in favor of Marcella was a great move...it's much easier for people who are unfamiliar with Marcella to get into that than into TLGIOK.

Terrible move for my taste...

If you won't attend the Berlin show 3 months from now, please allow me to wish for Marcella being dropped for The Little Girl I Once Knew then. :)

That video of IJWMFTT is glorious, you know sometimes I find it hard to fathom the fact that not only are the Beach Boys together again as a viable entity but THE Brian Wilson who created Pet Sounds, SMiLE, Good Vibrations and a million other great songs and albums is actually alive and touring with them. Am I alone? :o

Pet Sounds Live was the last time I've heard that one.

Not ever with the Beach Boys.

You can't ever go wrong with "old Pet Sounds."  ;)

Fantasitic clip. Watching that and the 'Surfin USA' clip above it with Brian on bass smiling I have only one thing to say.

As a touring Beach Boy.....Brians Back!

Just noted this poster on the brit site. Fans of the old Male Ego Board will know the name. Good to know he is well!

Hey everyone. Long time.

Just wanted to say that I went to the second Beacon show last night and I couldn't be more pleased with every single thing that went down. Don't read up on the set lists (I did not), just GO. So well done on every level. This is truly a special tour.

A few non-spoilers... Bruce is a master. Al's voice was magnificent last night. The set list was fantastic. Brian had some terrific moments. Cowsill is really playing well. Really nice to see and hear Marks doing his thing. Mike is Mike - reliable and steadfast. The back-end boys were on it!

Talked to Darian, Probyn, Nelson, David and Bruce afterwards. These guys all seem really pumped up and really happy to be doing this.

Fun fact I learned last night talking to Darian... his first Beach Boys concert ever in life was the first show on this tour. Unreal!

Male Ego sure was a great board ( and hey even Bruce dropped by now and again ) but this board is equally great ( other than Cohen ) if not better

Nah. It's always connected to the BBs, and before they became a part of Brian's tour band themselves there was hardly any way to experience his music live if not by going to a BBs show. That's one (good) reason I'd take that quote with a grain of salt. Plus, I was always under the impression that Sahanaja (and his peers) were fans of (almost) the whole catalogue (not in the same direction as folks like Foskett, but not "only the artsy and quirky stuff"-purists, either). You got any evidence that Sahanaja considers himself a "huge Brian Wilson fan", and not a general BBs fan?

Actually he's been a huge Dennis Wilson fan too, showed up at the launch party for my book back in 2000 with total hardcore knowledge about Dennis...and he's a huge Dave and the Marksmen fan...Wondermints covered I Wanna Cry in the early days.

Given the state of the touring band between 1981 or so and about ten years ago, it wouldn't surprise me at all if someone like Darian would rather not have seen those songs performed live at all than see them done like that. Remember, one of the conditions he made on joining Brian's band is that they would play the arrangements like on the records.

If every couple of years you see the BBs on TV doing something hugely embarrassing (the infamous Washington concert, the 25th anniversary show, the appearances on Full House and Baywatch, and so on), and you know that the shows are full of cheesy keyboards, Adrian Baker's off-key falsetto, special guest appearances by John Stamos and so on, and that the setlist would include a load of covers of Jan & Dean and Ronnie And The Daytonas songs plus Problem Child and almost all the Still Cruisin' album, you might well not want to go and see that, thinking it would be too sad.

There are plenty of musicians whose work I love who I've never been to see live, either because when they've toured it's been an inconvenient time or because I've heard that they're not very good live any more and don't want to be disappointed. I don't see any reason why that couldn't be true of Darian.

BTW...I've seen Brian solo a dozen times, and I've seen Dave and Al's side projects...but this tour 2012 is the first time I've seen The Beach Boys without Dennis Wilson.

I didn't say it ain't true, I don't know if it is. I just find it hard to believe, even in the light of the state of the BBs at certain points of time, that a 'mega fanatic' like Sahanaja wouldn't once in over two decades visit a concert of his musical heroes. Even in view of what you said (and what is true) about the BBs in the 80s, he could've attended a concert in the early 80s (when the live BBs were still okay) or in the 90s.

I didn't want to start some discussion about Sahanaja's honesty or whatever - maybe it's the truth, maybe he joked around, maybe he's deceptively quoted. I just find it hard to wrap my head around the thought that somebody like him would "attend" his first BBs gig in 2012, is all.

I know that Darian has made it a rule to generally avoid the Brian "hits" tours (that's what Gary Griffin is there for), and has also shied away from the Papa Do Ron Ron / Jan and Dean backing band nexus that a lot of the backing guys have whirled through at one point or another. (Heck, even Probyn and Scott dipped their toes in that scene with "The OC Beach Band" http://www.bookmusiciansdirect.com/us/ocbeachband.) He takes the music and history very seriously.

And I said he was a BW fan because he covered a song from Sweet Insanity -- as a single! That's a pretty hardcore BW nut thing to do (Also Guess I'm Dumb, I believe). But it makes sense, as Jon said, that he would also be a Denny and Dave fan. They're both artistically pure. Just his general personality and attitude suggest that he's not the type of guy to really enjoy Mr. Love's traveling show, if that makes any sense.

All of that being said, I'm glad he loosened up a little bit and went along for the ride on this tour.

That's my general impression/knowledge of him as well.  :) Still, it's really an odd "fact" (or rather, occurence) that the first concert of his favourite recording artists he attends is a 50th anniversary gig at which he plays in the backing band. Oh well, maybe I'll have a chance to ask him myself in Berlin.^^

What really matters is that with Sahanaja a hardcore fan became a vital part of the (on-going) legacy of his favourite band*, and even helped to form said legacy (SMiLE and all). Good for the guy.  :)

*not a singular event in the BBs cosmos, of course.

It was so weird on Tuesday watching Darian looking at Stamos playing drums and time his keyboard hits to Stamos's drum hits. he seemed to be enjoying the novelty of it. never thought I would see Darian and John Stamos on the same stage, let alone locking into a groove together.

Regardless, I'll never forget that night (especially after playing it back in my head about eight times a day).

Any videos around of Add Some Music or Hawaii?

If you won't attend the Berlin show 3 months from now, please allow me to wish for Marcella being dropped for The Little Girl I Once Knew then. :)

Big no from my side ! Marcella has to be tehre !! I love TLGIOK, so it could be added. But never ever again take Marcella out of the setlist !!

If you look at his right hand though he's playing different strings and staying in time with the song. There's certainly a way to play all the root notes to Surfin' USA without ever having to move your hand.

Justin,

did you notice if this show was being filmed for future use in a dvd by chance?  Also, you're an LA guy, right?  You flew to NY just for this show?  You called that one right...

Yup went from LA...got back early this morning and I'm sick as a dog.  A monster of a flu that is kicking my ass.  So I dont know when I'm putting up my pics but maybe in the next day or so.  But I am currently uploading my video of "Add Some Music To Your Day" hopefully by the time I get out of bed in a few hours it'll be ready for posting.  When they were singing it I saw a whole bunch of people in the section behind me standing (like me) with their phones/cameras all pointing towards this wonderful spectacle.  They knew just how special it was.  Surprised no video has surfaced yet.  Maybe in a few days.  But mine will be up momentarily.

And nope, didn't notice one camera at all inside the room.  Definitely not being filmed that I can tell.  The only camera was outside the venue where they were grabbing people for mini interviews regading the BB.  But not one camera inside filming the show.  Shame because it was a rocking show.

My video of "Add Some Music To Your Day"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HSWj2DKtd4&feature=youtu.be

Note AL and Bruce sharing mics...funny.  I would've caught the whole thing but security was really tight about videos.  I was lucky to get this out as the second set started--they weren't standing at their posts yet.  Had they done this on the first Beacon show....I would've gotten a perfect show of the whole group since I was right in front of Brian's piano.

Part of Add some music:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2uIri17nQ8 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2uIri17nQ8)

first time in 42 years, says Bruce.. . .

Now we are going beyond all dreams and expectations: the BB singing a cut from Sunflower, around the piano with Brian playing, ol' Al taking Carl's verse, elegant minimal accompaniment, Jeff being lovingly reverent and supportive (he has totally adjusted his Dodger stadium strategy).   This is not real. . ..

In other news, I see that Bruce offered some political analysis of the election. . .
Though a Republican, I prefer when my heroes stay out of politics, if only because I hope there is no backlash that hurts the BB and the sales. It's not "hip" among the young to be a Conservative (unless you're Johnny Ramone). I just hope it goes away.

Also, some thought my response o the Village Voice essay was harsh, but I want to do all I can to combat error and analysis that might dissuade any  listener from getting the album or listening to the single, etc.  Just trying to apply by craft to some BB defense.

I also agree the the performance of TWG is evolving toward clarity and precision.  I hope that who ever is producing the official DVD that we will be buying from PBS of from whomever soon is vigilant about going a good job; they ought to have recorded various shows and chosen the best performances instead of banking on one.

thanks and best wishes to all my co-celebrants of all these marvelous events

First time since 1994, IIRC (at least that's the last time I saw them perform "Add Some Music").

They sound phenomenal in that clip -- now, that's the Beach Boys!

Not sure if you can tell from the video, but I was in the audience and it was Foskett. I think Scott has sang it with Mike & Bruce before because Randell Kirsch can't hit the notes but I guess Foskett can.

No, it's Foskett. I thought it was Totten too when the first audience recordings came out (Totten sings that part with Mike & Bruce and it sounded like him to me), but it's definitely Foskett, singing solo. He does that part remarkably well, I think -- the best bit of vocals he does in the show.

Another moment I just noticed in the video is Bruce applauding Al for nailing that wonderful bridge with his ridiculously powerful voice.  It just soars through that middle section and Bruce is obviously proud of his band mate for knocking it out of the park.  Great moment!

Thanks for the info...never knew that of Scott.  I recall seeing some footage of Scott recently totally ripping a few wild guitar solos in a small club in Chicago---not knowing that he played guitar that well also.  I was just watching some video last night of a Mike/Bruce show from 2007 and saw John Cowsill on keyboards....threw me a little there.

yeah, Cowsill was the keyboard player when Mike Kowalski was the drummer.

most professional musicians know how to play more than one instrument. Mike Kowalski's first paid gig at the age of five was playing piano.
