Title: June 2 Billboard Mag is Beach Boys Special Issue
Post by: southbay on May 05, 2012, 06:20:20 PM
Just picked up the May 5 Billbaord.  No BB info except  a full page color ad on the inside front cover with the new picture of the guys around the white grand piano.  It is advertising the June 2 Billboard issue as a special celebration of their 50th anniversary.  Looks pretty cool.

That'll be Capitol's wall of secrecy in operation again, then.  ;D

I hate that they still market them as 'famous surf band' when the surf period only lasted 2-3 years. Their psychedelic period lasted from 1966 to 1971...
It is quite astonishing how people still haven't percieved them as 'more' than a surf band, everyone has heard PS by now, and soon Smile as well due to its sudden availability.

C'mon, Bruce! Still,with the shorts?
Couldn't they have at least positioned him behind the piano?

Yeah, this picture.  For the record, the ad in Billboard billed them as "An American Pop Icon"

Better shorts than white support stockings at this age
