Title: Beach Boy Stomp/Add Some Music Original Copies
Post by: guitarfool2002 on April 28, 2012, 01:24:45 PM
I was at a record show today where a vendor had a small box of original issues of Beach Boy Stomp and Add Some Music, the original smaller stapled copies, for sale. They dated back to 1979, up to 1988. I was wondering if there was any collector interest in these, or any value, beyond what fans would pay for them.

Nothing else of real interest to report, just a nice original PS of the Capitol 409 single, and assorted vinyl. And a backstage pass that looked like the early 80's tours. Retail prices on that stuff... :(

Just saw this thread for the first time. It is tough nowadays because threads get bumped by all the reunion talk. These magazines should be digitized - I'm sure they have lots of great info that is not on the internet.

OH! You wanted us to jump in offer wild sums of $$?
HOW MUCH?!?!?!?!?

But really...  I see some Stomps selling on Ebay, time to time, not so much for the ASM's. Someone just sold the first 7 ESQ's for $100. I bet I'm missing some of the ASM issues.

No, nothing here for sale like that. I was just curious if there were a collector value to these old issues because there are some knowledgeable collectors who post here. That little box of back issues was one of the highlights of an otherwise uneventful collector show yesterday, but I didn't buy any of them.

OK, I'll 'fess up: What I had in mind was hopefully reading something like "Oh wow, those go for 15-20 bucks a copy!", driving back to the second day of that record show, and offering the guy 20-30 for the whole lot of them, then selling them for a nice profit.  ;D

EDIT: I forgot, there were a few older ESQ's in the box as well, not sure what the dates were.

I would venture, based on these results from Ebay, that most single issues of Stomp don't have much value:

Wow, that's not too good of a showing, is it? Glad I didn't buy any of them! Most of the ASM issues he had seemed to be from 79-81 and around that time. My instinct told me not to buy - glad I listened. :)
