They were already tinkering with a song, melody, lyrics, this awful event comes along, they finish it up with a slightly different focus, and that's that. We've all heard the explanations about the night before, the night of, the Marysville date, etc. I'm sure it all sort of jumbled together in their collective memories. Who knows. Nothing to obsess over. Point is, there were a couple of influences, it occurred over a couple of days, and we have a great song in the bargain. Thanks for posting, it was an interesting read.
