Title: Beach Boys on QVC
Post by: astroray on April 25, 2012, 06:37:28 AM
I don't know if this is new album info, new tour info, TV appearance info, but the Boys will be on QVC May 16th, hawking their new album (with QVC exclusive bonus disc)!

I wonder if this will reunite them with Joan Rivers and she can ask Brian about groupies again.

I'm just picturing Lee Press-On nails gesturing to an "exclusive disc" with Waves of Love on it. Act now! Operators are standing by!

You can bet that QVC will have an exclusive version of the album with 2 or 3 tracks available through them, only.

Remember when Brian was on QVC selling his stuff and performing? It's actually quite a profitable and smart way of selling product, it's getting a direct line to millions of potential buyers and viewers who are admittedly mostly women who have credit cards ready to spend, and I've seen several top-tier artists go on QVC just like Brian did and sell quite a bit of albums.

Here's the trick: QVC is located in West Chester PA. You can book studio tours at their location there. If the BB's are going to actually travel to the PA studios, I will/would look into booking a QVC studio tour for that day when they will be there, if that can be done. That would be cool. Just a random thought, if anything like that could be possible. Keep that in mind, residents of PA/NJ/DE/NY, West Chester is an easy drive.

I would be willing to bet that they will be there as they are playing in Bethlehem the next night. So it makes sense logistically.

They are going to do some type of bundle with the new album bundled with a greatest hits package.  The deal is going to be if you order from them you'll have the record around a month before it hits shops.

So who is going to be sending some green the way of QVC?

I will be watching QVC for this and picking up whatever Beach Boys stuff they offer.  Looking forward to it.

I'll definitely watch to see what exactly is offered.

I don't have cable (or watch tv for that matter)...I'm intrigued!  This is 2 weeks before the release date.  I'd appreciate if someone would post more detailed info on how to order once it is available...

Here you go, Eric.  I'd say just call this '800' number on May 16:

The Beach Boys are scheduled to head to QVC Wednesday, May 16 to unveil their much-anticipated new release with a special hour-long live performance at 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT. During The Beach Boys’ QSessions Live broadcast, fans will have the opportunity to order the new album, which has been specially packaged just for QVC shoppers with a greatest hits bonus CD, nearly a month before the new album’s release date. The QVC-exclusive album package with bonus CD will be available starting May 16 at QVC.com or (800) 345-1515, while supplies last.

Heaven forbid if autotune is used for the concert portion of the show. I can imagine everyone here calling in bitching to the band about it. ;)

Weren't Wilson Phillips just on QVC selling their new album and singing, too ? I look forward to see videos of the Beach Boys

Humor aside, sounds like a good effective, systematic promo plan is shaping up.  Good!

QVC reaches millions who are "shopping, all the time."

Shopper, catch some Waves of Love!

Does this mean people will be receiving the album before June 5th if they order through QVC?

Teehee I don't live far from there!  ;D but sadly that is the day I am in Hershey. Oh well! I did check their website and it looks like it's not going to be for the public. I would call ahead anyway just to see!

Yeah, but if you order it on QVC, will they ship it so it arrives closer to the release date or are they shipping it so it arrives the week of the broadcast or something?

I know Neil Diamond appeared on QVC to shift some CDs. Sadly the host kept on referring to him as Neil Diamonique through force of habit. Wowsers...

They'll probably ship it right away, so you can have it the weekafter you order.

That's what I was wondering, sounds like a really good deal. I wish I had a credit card lol.

No, they do not ship it right away. Most likely they will ship so you have it on release day.

maybe yes, maybe no. Customer service rep I spoke to says they'll be shipping by the end of the week of the show

I wouldn't trust that answer 100%. Just speaking from past experience. That person may not be aware of the gap between their appearance and the release date. I hope he/she is correct, though. :)

My wife just read that while supplies last, those who order it during their appearance will get it early, along with a greatest hits package, so we may have to buy and pay more for that privilege. Again, this is unofficial.

What a great ride this will be. How many people will be poised to buy so they get the early ship? ( everyone from here no doubt, that can)

So it's 25 bucks and you get an 11 track Greatest Hits CD with it.  Ships on the same day it's available to everyone else. Not sure you're gaining anything much here. Maybe points if you're a QVC member.....

Seems not. Even if this was pitched at people who don't have a greatest hits CD already they'd be able to buy the album cheaper elsewhere and a better GH album at a third of the price.  :-\

ok, so no sense buying this thing tomorrow.  Anybody have any clues what they are going to play?  Any CHANCE they will play something off the album besides TWGMTR? Any CHANCE AT ALL?

If they do I reckon it might be Spring Vacation seeing as that's had an airing on that Dutch radio station. It'll be interesting for sure.

Someone's gotta tape this. Or DVR, however people get things off TV these days. And upload it somewhere for a stream. I'm moving and I won't have cable anymore to watch it  :(

At least I'll be able to watch the PBS thing as it happens.

As the show winds down, Gracie says 8,500 CDs have been ordered (later, the tally will top 19,000 — impressive, but no match for the record 43,000 that Barry Manilow moved in an hour), and asks each band member to send a message to his fans. Johnston wishes everyone good health, “so you can come see the Beach Boys.” Love cutely adds, “And wouldn’t it be nice if you do?”

Watch sports videos you won't find anywhere else

I pasted this for our information; so we sold 19,000. great. BM sold 42 K? wow. did that make him #@1?

Consider the audience, here. The Beach Boys were gonna do well, but never as well as Mr.Manilow ^_^

If Matt is not on the album, why is he in one of the studio photos singing with guys? Is he on Do It Again or another track that didn't make the final cut?
