Title: Red Hot Chili Peppers cover Beach Boys on new EP Post by: stack-o-tracks on April 20, 2012, 01:01:06 PM http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/upcoming_releases/red_hot_chili_peppers_to_release_cover_album.html
Quote "Salute" will include studio covers of Dion and The Belmonts' "A Teenager In Love", the Ramones' "Havana Affair" and Iggy and The Stooges' "Search & Destroy", as well as live versions of Neil Young's "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere", the Beach Boys' "I Get Around" and David Bowie's "Suffragette City". The release is meant to toast the Chili Peppers' Rock and Roll Hall of Fame brethren, after the group was inducted into the Rock Hall at a ceremony last Saturday (Apr. 14). I think it's probably this version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVYhhF7bRa0 Title: Re: Red Hot Chili Peppers cover Beach Boys on new EP Post by: cablegeddon on April 20, 2012, 01:03:41 PM Harrrable

Title: Re: Red Hot Chili Peppers cover Beach Boys on new EP Post by: Chris Brown on April 20, 2012, 06:07:01 PM A lot better than I was expecting - I can't stand the band usually, but that was enjoyable. Nice falsetto work too.

I think it's probably this version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVYhhF7bRa0 It probably is - most of the songs listed have been released before as stated (i.e. the "Search And Destroy" cover was a studio cover from 1991). Yeah, I used to be pretty into these guys, don't h8 ;( Bit of an odd way to "celebrate" your induction in the rock and roll hall of fame by released a covers record, amirite? Nice falsetto work too. Up until 2004 or so, I loved Frusciante's voice overall, while still finding his falsetto to be occasionally grating (but occasionally really damn good, too). It sounds like he took lessons or something, as there's a drastic change starting with first of many solo albums he put out in 2004. Don't know, just not a fan of whatever happened, and his already iffy falsetto took a huge hit as well (as heard here). |
