Opens totally new perspectives... Not trying to be innovative or open new perspectives. Just wanna hear those tracks and I'm good. ;D Title: Re: Hawthorne CA Vol 2 Post by: rab2591 on March 19, 2012, 07:31:15 AM "In the back of my mind" (Brian's 1975 piano version) "Little Bird" (instrumental) Anything uncirculating really I'd also add the backing track to 'In The Back Of My Mind' Title: Re: Hawthorne CA Vol 2 Post by: guitarfool2002 on March 19, 2012, 07:36:22 AM Help Me, Rhonda (Hawaii Rehearsals 1967) You're So Good To Me (Hawaii Rehearsals 1967) Surfin' (Hawaii Rehearsals 1967 if there's a finished recording) Are you referring to the Wally Heider re-recordings that were tagged "rehearsals" on the boots, or actual rehearsals from Hawaii? I've always wanted to know how many more practice tapes existed from Hawaii after those few rehearsals showed up on the GV box set. Very intrigued by this, I hope someone has more info... Title: Re: Hawthorne CA Vol 2 Post by: Jaspy on March 19, 2012, 07:49:33 AM Are you referring to the Wally Heider re-recordings that were tagged "rehearsals" on the boots, or actual rehearsals from Hawaii? Yes, the Wally Heider remakes of course. Would be cool to hear those beautiful background vocals on "Help Me, Rhonda" a bit louder for example. Title: Re: Hawthorne CA Vol 2 Post by: guitarfool2002 on March 19, 2012, 08:03:04 AM Are you referring to the Wally Heider re-recordings that were tagged "rehearsals" on the boots, or actual rehearsals from Hawaii? Yes, the Wally Heider remakes of course. Would be cool to hear those beautiful background vocals on "Help Me, Rhonda" a bit louder for example. ;D I agree, at first I thought there may be more recordings from Hawaii sitting in the vaults...that is actually something worth asking: Are there any more recordings like Surfer Girl and Their Hearts... which appeared on the box set and 2-fers? I'm assuming there *could* be. And may I add that not only is Help Me Rhonda from the Heider sessions fantastic but also how great is that vocal ending/coda of California Girls? That is a real highlight for me, it's like hearing the song on Smiley Smile but with more sentiment and heart. A beautiful version. Title: Re: Hawthorne CA Vol 2 Post by: hypehat on March 19, 2012, 08:21:16 AM A properly mixed version of 'Mona Kani'
Any unreleased Dennis from 68-74, really Acapellas galore. Title: Re: Hawthorne CA Vol 2 Post by: GuyO on March 19, 2012, 12:02:05 PM We got love.
Title: Re: Hawthorne CA Vol 2 Post by: joshferrell on March 19, 2012, 12:32:47 PM here's what would be cool..a 4 disc set..disc 1 and disc 2 ALL unreleased/rare stuff (no alt takes, demos, live etc) but songs that are out of print too..disc 3 alt takes, demos and live songs of already released songs that we know and love disc 4 stack of tracks stack o vocals..nothing previously released on ANY of the discs other than the rare stuff on the first two discs..rare stuff would mean anything that was released officially on a soundtrack or a compilation, aka:east meets west, problem child etc, that are now hard to find and out of print..
Title: Re: Hawthorne CA Vol 2 Post by: cablegeddon on March 19, 2012, 01:26:59 PM That would be fantastic if they did that. I want as many Acappella tracks and backing tracks as possible!
Title: Re: Hawthorne CA Vol 2 Post by: Cabinessenceking on March 19, 2012, 04:32:41 PM Cocaine sessions in stereo quality
Title: Re: Hawthorne CA Vol 2 Post by: Phoenix on March 19, 2012, 05:29:55 PM All the Blondie & Ricky era stuff that's sitting in the vaults ("We Got Love", "Hard Times" "It's A New Day", etc, and especially a live version of "Wild Honey" with Blondie on lead vocals). Mainly so I can have high quality versions of them but also because it will be nice to see BRI acknowledge the contributions of those two guys.
Title: Re: Hawthorne CA Vol 2 Post by: MBE on March 19, 2012, 11:23:55 PM Really no remixes would matter to me. What I want would be every song finished or not put out that hasn't been. Any alternates would have to be radically different.

Title: Re: Hawthorne CA Vol 2 Post by: Disney Boy (1985) on March 22, 2012, 08:56:24 AM Obviously all the unreleased Dennis gems (WIBNTLA etc); also would be great to have that terrfic early rendition of We're Together Again getting a proper release, it's just so radically different from the completed (belatedly) released version.

Early version? I have only heard two versions, the one on the 2 Fer and a alternate 'countrified' backing track (which is a different tempo). Elaborate. Title: Re: Hawthorne CA Vol 2 Post by: hypehat on March 22, 2012, 09:30:44 AM He means the instrumental version you described.
Title: Re: Hawthorne CA Vol 2 Post by: runnersdialzero on March 22, 2012, 01:10:45 PM Cocaine sessions in stereo quality Man. When I listen to the "cocaine sessions", I'm always filled with white hot rage at this informal rehearsal not being in true stereo. What were they thinking? I remedied this by hard panning it to the left and filling the right channel with 80 minutes of lawnmower noises. Title: Re: Hawthorne CA Vol 2 Post by: Jim V. on March 22, 2012, 01:37:16 PM Labor Day. Yes please. I would love to hear this "last" Dennis song. But anyways, besides that: "Where Is She" "(Wouldn't It Be Nice To) Live Again" "Burlesque" "Funky Fever" "Rooftop Harry" "Gimme Some Lovin'" (1972) "California Feelin'" (1974) "You're Riding High on the Music" "Boys & Girls" "Sweetie" "Wouldn't that be Cool" Title: Re: Hawthorne CA Vol 2 Post by: lee on March 22, 2012, 01:47:41 PM I just want more Carl and Dennis.

The quality is such that during "Oh Lord", you can actually hear Brian's nasal septum collapse. Title: Re: Hawthorne CA Vol 2 Post by: Jaspy on March 30, 2012, 12:47:46 AM "In the back of my mind" (Brian's 1975 piano version) "Little Bird" (instrumental) Anything uncirculating really I'd also add the backing track to 'In The Back Of My Mind' And a Stereo-Mix of "In The Back Of My Mind" with Dennis' lead single-tracked would be nice. Although released in other versions, I think "Their Hearts Were Full Of Spring" from the Andy Williams Show October 1965 would be worth releasing, it's the best rendition they did of this song IMHO. I don't know if this would be too much rewriting the history, but I once took the vocals of the finished "We're Together Again" and put them over the other instrumental track. It sounded phenomenal. Title: Re: Hawthorne CA Vol 2 Post by: buddhahat on March 30, 2012, 01:01:11 AM "In the back of my mind" (Brian's 1975 piano version) Never heard about this - is it any good? Is it circulating?
