Title: Re: ProjeKt Camus presents SMiLE 1971 Post by: UK_Surf on February 29, 2012, 07:20:04 AM Excellent idea!
I'm curious about some of the Smile Sessions mixes though. Why use the SS SU mix, when the '71 version (or something very much like it) is contemporaneous? How about the Prayer mix, when the 20/20 version had already been 'finished' and released? Not a criticism, I'm just interested in the rationale. I really like the other track ideas. Hope to get the chance to listen to this soon. Title: Re: ProjeKt Camus presents SMiLE 1971 Post by: Camus on February 29, 2012, 12:12:59 PM The rationale came down to personal preferance :-)

Also- curious about where the side 1's end. Title: Re: ProjeKt Camus presents SMiLE 1971 Post by: pixletwin on February 29, 2012, 12:36:03 PM This is an interesting angle for a SMiLE mix. Anyway it can be uploaded in such a way that we don't have to sign up for anything? :)
Title: Re: ProjeKt Camus presents SMiLE 1971 Post by: Camus on February 29, 2012, 03:29:40 PM ??? You shouldn't have to sign up to be able to download it. Would Soundcloud be easier?
Child follows the BWPS template but instead of going into Surf's Up it goes into the piano/vocals Child ending with a fade from the early version of the verse. Re: Surf's Up and Prayer, it was personal preference because I prefer the undubbed Prayer rather than the 20/20 version and I prefer Brian Wilson singing Surf's Up to Carl. I can just about justify it because if the technology had been there, Surf's Up would've been released with Brian Wilson singing the first part. With Prayer, I feel if Brian had've been onboard in 1971 to release it he would've preferred the undubbed version (in my estimation of course). With Me Tonight is my own edit and doesn't use any of the Smiley Smile recording. Both versions of Old Man River have been used edited to form a musical whole. I'm In Great Shape and Barnyard feature the humble harv vocals with the piano removed. I'd like to hear this ;D
