Title: “obvious lip-synching" Post by: OGoldin on February 27, 2012, 12:39:53 PM http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/news.php?id=94466
“In many ways this is the group's first real tour in decades," Bongiovanni said. “This tour should be very successful if they don't get too greedy with the ticket price. Their Grammy appearance did put the band back in front of the public but it's hard to tell if anyone was put off by the obvious lip-synching." It looks like mixing Jeff so high and Brian so low may have had unintended consequences. At any rate, the article includes another quick genuinely upbeat interview of Brian and Mike. Title: Re: “obvious lip-synching\ Post by: KokoNO on February 27, 2012, 12:41:58 PM Yeah, they definitely weren't lip synching but when you watch the footage and hear Jeff's voice over everybody else's, the Boys just look like they're miming most of the time. It's stupid because we could totally hear Brian singing his heart out in the fan recordings, but on television you only hear Jeff (and a bit of Mike's low notes).
Title: Re: “obvious lip-synching\ Post by: OGoldin on February 27, 2012, 12:48:10 PM I posted too soon. Here's the original unabridged link. I notice that others have already caught this.

Title: Re: “obvious lip-synching\ Post by: KokoNO on February 27, 2012, 01:02:27 PM What's most interesting is Jardine wanting to play some pretty deep cuts. "Farmer's Daughter" and "Lonely Sea" are both very good tracks and it would be mind blowing to hear stuff like that.

I looked for Larry Dvoskin's quote about "Waves of love" from a while back. Here it is: LD: "In early 90's when Carl Wilson was still alive, there was exploration into reuniting the group & Brian and recording a new album with producer Don Was. I went to Al's glorious ranch and we wrote and demo'd a bunch of songs="Waves Of Love", "Good Good Feelings", "Wish", "Jennifer Clover" (named after Al's cow and co-written with his wonderful wife- Mary Ann Jardine). At that time- Al's eldest son "Matt Jardine" was touring with the band replacing Brian Wilson's voice by singing all those really high falsetto notes. So Al, Matt, Carl Wilson, and maybe Bruce I recall- at one point recorded a bunch of songs...which are unreleased yet, but are really high quality songs." Title: Re: “obvious lip-synching\ Post by: runnersdialzero on February 28, 2012, 06:45:54 PM If they can piece together two different takes of "Surf's Up", they can get Dennis on this album, vocally. Give more respect to the vocal, obviously - work around IT, don't work the vocal around the new recording. But yeah, it could totally be done :( shame it looks doubtful now.
