Title: Springsteen cops "Wild Honey" riff -- who else?
Post by: Aum Bop Diddit on February 19, 2012, 07:51:26 PM
Was listening to the otherwise pedestrian new single by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band "We Take Care of Our Own"....  That opening riff!  A straight cop of the theremin opening of "Wild Honey!"

Not much to add to that except maybe we can have an interesting discussion of any other riff lifting of BB songs -- did Led Zep ever do their thing to Brian and the boys?  I know Blue Oyster Cult invokes "Good Vibrations" on "I Love the Night".

No.

I think that's his best song since possibly the 80s. (The album Rising had some pretty good songs though).

Brian's own "Night time" uses the opening of Wild Honey as well, although more chord wise

A 90s indie band called Jane Pow copied the WH intro verbatim on a song called Shutdown.

Shutdown is an obvious ripoff. the Springsteen song is probably just a coincidence.
