Title: Who would you like to see open for the Beach Boys on tour? Post by: Rocky Raccoon on February 11, 2012, 06:53:33 AM They probably won't have an opening act but I love when I can see two concerts on the same bill.
I think The Shins or St. Vincent would be great openers. Title: Re: Who would you like to see open for the Beach Boys on tour? Post by: Lowbacca on February 11, 2012, 06:58:48 AM The Shins are too big themselves to open for another act (even the Beach Boys). But they are going to tour again in 2012 and release a new album. 8)
And yeah, the BBs probably won't have a regular supporting act.. Title: Re: Who would you like to see open for the Beach Boys on tour? Post by: D409 on February 11, 2012, 07:01:13 AM No need for an opening act, the 50th anniversary demands a full evening of Beach Boys music ! :)
Title: Re: Who would you like to see open for the Beach Boys on tour? Post by: SamMcK on February 11, 2012, 07:42:11 AM I don't feel the Beach Boys need an opening act, when I saw Brian he didn't have one and I don't see why it should be any different for the Beach Boys. :)

Title: Re: Who would you like to see open for the Beach Boys on tour? Post by: The Shift on February 11, 2012, 07:58:55 AM Y'know,
I'd like to see the tour wind up with a two-day festival at the Hollywood Bowl. Line-up to include: Wilson Philips American Spring The Honeys Al Jardine and the Endless Summer Beach Harmony Sunshine Buckets & Spades Band Brian Wilson The Flame Mike & Bruce band with weekend headliners the reunited Beach Boys. Right now I'd happily thow in everything to cros the pond for that. Title: Re: Who would you like to see open for the Beach Boys on tour? Lamm does a great job! ;) Title: Re: Who would you like to see open for the Beach Boys on tour? Post by: Magic Transistor Radio on February 11, 2012, 08:55:06 AM Admiral Radley

Hey, they could perform their mega hit Ferry Cross the Mersey, while the Beach Boys do their Number One hit Surf City! Title: Re: Who would you like to see open for the Beach Boys on tour? Title: Re: Who would you like to see open for the Beach Boys on tour? Post by: I. Spaceman on February 11, 2012, 11:53:30 AM I wish I could go back in time and see that show where Captain Beefheart, The Leaves, Love , The Lovin' Spoonful and The Byrds opened for The Beach Boys in 1966.

You have excellent taste... :) :) :)Title: Re: Who would you like to see open for the Beach Boys on tour? Post by: SamMcK on February 11, 2012, 12:59:18 PM Macca & Ringo. That would be pretty sweet but that would take way to much of the spotlight away from the boys. I'm pretty sure your not serious though. ;) (It's hard to understand when your joking or not even if I am also english.) :lol Title: Re: Who would you like to see open for the Beach Boys on tour? Post by: NatureShowInStereo on February 11, 2012, 01:58:10 PM I would personally take a longer Beach Boys set over having an opening act. Then maybe Bruce could squeeze in Disney Girls :3d

Title: Re: Who would you like to see open for the Beach Boys on tour? Post by: Mikie on February 12, 2012, 12:02:33 AM The Beach Boys I'll go with that too. They'll be strong enough to headline their own show. No need for any warm-up acts. Title: Re: Who would you like to see open for the Beach Boys on tour? Post by: kiwi surfer on February 12, 2012, 12:22:43 AM Dean Torrence and the Legendary masked sufers, basically doing Jan And Dean songs... :hat Hey, I'll second that. Otherwise The Explorers Club. Sort of a changing of the guard type thing. Title: Re: Who would you like to see open for the Beach Boys on tour? Post by: lee on February 12, 2012, 03:14:19 AM I'd prefer no opening act as well.
Title: Re: Who would you like to see open for the Beach Boys on tour? Post by: AndrewHickey on February 12, 2012, 05:07:02 AM If we have an opening act, there won't be time for much more than a run-through of the hits. If we *don't* have an opening act, then we can get sets as long and interesting as Brian's from 2002 or Mike, Bruce and David's from 2008.
Since I'm hoping we'll get a fifty-song setlist (or more, but fifty songs would be appropriate given the nature of the tour), I'm also hoping there's no opening act. Post by: Sam_BFC on February 12, 2012, 05:39:29 AM Adam Marsland and the Chaos Band performing the songs of a certain couple of brothers.... Hadn't thought of that, but what better way could there be of honouring Carl and Dennis? Doubt it will happen though. Title: Re: Who would you like to see open for the Beach Boys on tour? Post by: shelter on February 12, 2012, 06:58:11 AM The Polyphonic Spree would be perfect.
