Title: Re: Pete Townshend On Brian Wilson's Bass Sound Post by: Justin on February 03, 2012, 09:55:29 AM Is that from the Classic Album series where musicians and band members break down each track and tell you how they recorded it how they wrote it? Those a great series and I have a few of them like Paul Simon' Graceland. Anyway, it would be fantastic if they did a series just on Beach Boys albums. And not just Pet Sounds.

And not just Pet Sounds. I don't know if I'd want to hear a Making of Sunflower without Carl or Dennis. I suppose they could spend a lot of time talking about Deirdre and Tears in the Morning. Title: Re: Pete Townshend On Brian Wilson's Bass Sound Post by: Justin on February 03, 2012, 10:24:31 AM Absolutely...I should've said "It would have been fantastic"...perhaps it's too late now to make a meaningful document considering all the key players are gone. But I think we could still get some great insight from the rest of the key members and also Stephen Desper. It seems his recollection of those albums are still quite vivid.

Title: Re: Pete Townshend On Brian Wilson's Bass Sound Post by: hypehat on February 03, 2012, 04:41:25 PM Second time this week I've thought the worst of ageing rockstars for deplorable acts which their fans are happy to ignore. I'm a cantankerous git at heart. ;D Title: Re: Pete Townshend On Brian Wilson's Bass Sound Post by: FatherOfTheMan Sr101 on February 03, 2012, 07:33:46 PM Hey, if BB fans can ignore Brian's several "child-related" freak-outs, why can't they ignore Pete's?

Adult/child Brian liked playboy and hustler, not child porn. :spinTitle: Re: Pete Townshend On Brian Wilson's Bass Sound Post by: rogerlancelot on February 03, 2012, 07:51:44 PM Anyway, it would be fantastic if they did a series just on Beach Boys albums. I'd buy it. Not a huge Bruce fan but I love both "Deirdre" and "Tears In The Morning". Title: Re: Pete Townshend On Brian Wilson's Bass Sound Post by: Ron on February 03, 2012, 11:28:21 PM O.K. I'm an idiot. I just noticed it's spelled "Deirdre" and not "Diedre".

I think I only spelled it right because they only place I ever saw it written down was on the Sunflower album. Not exactly a pleasant literary name. Title: Re: Pete Townshend On Brian Wilson's Bass Sound Post by: wavedancer on February 04, 2012, 11:34:59 AM Getting back to Townends praise of Brian Wilsons early bass playing, I'm thinking after reading Jon Stebbins book, shouldn't a certain Mr. Alan Jardine be taking a lot of the credit here. ? |
