Title: A Vegetables Hybrid Mix
Post by: SloopJohnB52 on February 01, 2012, 10:51:07 AM
Here's the second song in my planned 13-track stereo SMiLE (Y-SMiLE) mix.  It's a hybrid version containing bits from both the SMiLE and Smiley Smile sessions.

Thanks.

Next up is "With Me Tonight", which will be another SMiLE / Smiley Smile hybrid.  I've always considered that song to be one of the better SMiLE-era compositions and was surprised it wasn't included on BWPS.

I completely agree. "With Me Tonight" is one of the best things to come out of SMiLE.

"With Me Tonight" is the one song that actually benefited from the makeover/do-over from Smile to Smiley Smile, imo.

Thanks.  Before taking on "With Me Tonight", I've decided to complete my "Worms" mix which I think may be the most important SMiLE track after H & V.  My aim is to make it sound like a real song instead of a series of fragments pasted together like most mixes - the abrupt stop to the Bicycle Rider vocals really doesn't work, in my opinion.  So far, it's coming along incredibly well!  It is intended to follow WMT and precede Barnyard/Cabinessence, which will close out my "Side One".  I should be finished with it in about a week.

you're doing a very good job. I especially like the premise of making it sound much more psychedelic than it already is, and I cannot wait until the mix is finished.

That's EXACTLY my purpose - to make SMiLE the psychedelic classic it should have been in 1967!
