Title: John Stamos on "The View" abc network...
Post by: filledeplage on January 31, 2012, 09:06:08 AM
John Stamos made a guest appearance on The View, a newsy-entertainment program featuring esteemed journalist Barbara Walters, (absent today) Whoopie Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sherri Sheppard, and Elizabeth Hasselbeck.

It is viewable on abc.com on one of those downloadable players...

John spoke, among many topics, about the 50th and how he would be happy to even "sell T-shirts" for the Beach Boys and was in awe of the "greats" Brian and Mike back performing together.

He gave them a great plug.  But, don't take my word...see for yourselves...

Have a great day! ;)

Afternoon delight,
cocktails and moonlit nights
That dreamy look in your eye
give me a tropical contact high

You forgot to mention the bit where he backtracked about being part of the C50 tour: "Maybe I mis-spoke before, I'll do anything they want me to do. Sell T-shirts, anything."  ;D

He mis-spoke...and we find out nine pages or whatever and countless arguments from that other thread later...sheesh.

Well, this is good news, isn't it!  ;D

EDIT: So I spent however many minutes of my life actually watching the Stamos part, and this just confirms the fact I cannot believe we were even discussing the possibility of him being up on that stage with the band.

Guarantee he will be at at least one show. There's no way he won't.

There is no way that I'm going to buy a t-shirt off Stamos.

I spoke to John after Brian's performance at NAMM..  I mentioned to him about seeing him at the 50th anniversary tour concerts and his response gave me the  impression that he was not part of the official band but perhaps he might be showing up at a few of the shows.

No Andrew, I did not forget. I simply provided the information for posters/readers to view the program and allow them the opportunity to make their own assessment.  That is the teacher in me.

And, I  happen to enjoy The View.  Strong women from diverse backgrounds, with strong divergent opinions.  My kind of role models!  They did a couple of older photos of the Boys, including Carl.

Any positive publicity for my favorite band, is a great thing in my book, any old day of the week!   ;)

My wifey recorded it on our dvr and I actually tuned into the Stamos segment. He was quite funny and showed some humorous commercials he has been in recently. Kind of washed away the bad taste I had from seeing the "Forever" video a couple of nights ago. But if you want to bash on Stamos, what in the hell was Carl doing in that thing anyway?

Carl felt sorry for him. That's the only reason.

LOL guys, you really show no mercy to Stamos. He probably has an account here (no not this one -_-), and decided not to after reading that thread about him. Haha what do I care if he's playing guitar or drums or backup vocals. There's gonna be lots of others doing that anyway. As long as he doesn't sing 'Forever' I'm totally fine with him

Stamos was also on the cover of the quarterly magazine my cable company sends out. He's promoting a Lifetime movie where he plays an evil pastor or something. The article on him made a Beach Boys mention once, in the opening paragraph, after listing what he is famous for. It said, "Add in generations of Beach Boys fans who hope Stamos will appear with the band to drum up some 'Good Vibrations' - as he's done regularly for the past 26 years - and that's an awful lot of entertainment."

He did not comment at all on the band during the interview portion. He mostly just talked about how he wants to get back into sitcom work, so maybe we can all hope he'll be too busy to be majorly involved in the tour. I don't have any real issues with him making an appearance at a few shows or joining in for a few songs; I just don't think he should have a huge spotlight, like singing Forever or something.

No doubt that "Forever" is a great song...and there is a lot of vitriol that I think is just a "tempest in a tea pot. "  On one of the British BB linked radio stations, which has a live link, has been doing a program on Dennis' work today.  Forever is just the tip-of-the-iceberg for his talent and profound, yet simple lyrics.  It might be the most recognized, but maybe not the most profound.

Only With You is one of my favorites, as well as You are So Beautiful, which Billy Preston is credited with but reportedly a Dennis song, and one that Dennis did solo in Concert with the Boys.  As I think of his music, Forever, which is lovely, is less emotional and profound as compared to "Only with You" or "Barbara"  or "Cuddle Up." Be Still is another barely known gem of Dennis.

Maybe David is the one to do "Only with You" or maybe Al.  His great stuff is on Carl and the Passsions - So Tough and POB, and a lot is co-lead with Carl.   His work, I think is profound and what can grab you by the throat.  It is no wonder people have found his soulfullness an inspiration.

I'd buy a t-shirt off the guy if it'd keep him from stinking up the stage.

Somebody has to sing "Forever". Can I do it? I'll start rehearsing right away!
