Title: "Join the human race." Post by: Rocky Raccoon on January 25, 2012, 05:08:09 PM At the end of the remastered Brian Wilson debut solo album, there is a hiden tag on the final track where there's an old Christmas message from Brian and then a few seconds later the album ends with the words "Join the human race" sung to the tune of "in our private space" in Being With the One You Love. Does anybody know the origin of this?
And for those of you who get testy, yes, I did already look on both the board's search engine and on Google and I couldn't find anything that matched. Title: Re: \ Post by: Jason on January 25, 2012, 05:19:30 PM It's the compilers throwing in a piece of the original version of Being With The One You Love, which was under the title "Doin' Time On Planet Earth". It was never released officially, but Brian played it when he guest hosted Rodney Bingenheimer's program in 1988, which is the source for the bootlegs.
Title: Re: \ Post by: Rocky Raccoon on January 25, 2012, 05:35:20 PM Thanks, I looked this up and it was supposed to be the theme of an obscure sci-fi comedy with Roddy McDowall of the same name. So weird.
It seems like the song was unreleased for a good reason. It would be like if Midnight's Another Day was originally written as the theme from Norbit. Though it would at least explain why Brian went to see it. Title: Re: \ Post by: Mikie on January 25, 2012, 05:45:21 PM Always liked that one. Doin' Time On Planet Earth was written by Brian, Landy, and Landy's girlfriend Alexandria Morgan - recorded October 1987 in Los Angeles.
"Doin' Time on Planet Earth" was originally recorded for a movie of that name (released in 1988). When the song wasn't used in the movie, the lyrics were re-written and the song called "Being With The One You Love". It was released in '89 on the flip side of a single with "Melt Away".
