I was going to make a whole album like this back in '96, with 100 tracks. You hit shuffle and got a different album every time. Problem was the CD player you played it ion would have needed a cache memory, so there were no breaks. I got about a quarter way through and decided to have a nervous breakdown instead.

Is the wicked awesome SMiLE Project software still out there? It used Winamp as I remember. Where is that CD?

Thanks guys!  :D  I had this playing for nearly an hour yesterday, and it's pretty neat that 90% of the time, the random transmissions sound great!

I totally remember that, although I never dl'd it or played it...  I did see a bandmate play it though.  I wanna say it's on what.cd, but it's down and I can't check.  But in hindsight, this is sort of the same deal...

Ha!  I think, I could do this dfor the whole album, like cut each song into pieces (Cabin Essence into 5, Surf's Up into 2 or 3, etc.).  The result would be really random though!   ???

I still have that, I think it's on .torrent, although it's small enough relatively to be megauploadable.....

This is awesome.  If somebody worked up some kind of web-based interface for this, it could really "go viral".

This generator really shows how many different ways H&V could have went and why it took Brian so long to (barely) figure out a single.

Absolutely...this makes me love the song even more now.

I always thought there should be a program along the lines of this-- here are all the SMiLE bits. Here's a basic editor, drag and drop the parts in whatever order you want and maybe have some basic crossfading available.

Great little site, by the way! It's funny that, aside from the most obvious of clashes, nothing really seems THAT out of order.

This is really cool. The "fire intro" ending up in the middle of the song is really weird though, haha. but most of these apparently randomly placed-together sections are really cohesive. this really good have been assembled in so many ways.

Problem 1: Since when could I 'Strep right up'?  :-D ;D
Problem 2: Is it my connection, or does each section take too long to load, leaving unwanted gaps?

It must be your connection, it goes seamlessly for me.

Thanks guys!  :D
SOrry, Tried it on my otehr computer, works fine, but is it meant to just stop eventually?

Well, how it works is that it's a playlist of the 25 pieces I choose, but always starting with the beginning verse, with the remainder random...  So that abrupt ending was just literally the final piece in the queue.  If spotsnack or whatever it's called would have allowed to designate a certain son to be first and last with everything in-between random shuffle, then I'd probably close it all with Fade.  But it doesn't, so until I find a better embeddable media player, this is it.  (I paid $20 for the non-ad version too!).  I honestly think the sometimes abrupt ending is kinda funny.   :lol

Also, I did not put it on continuous repeat.  Why?  Because since the pieces are on shuffle, there is a chance sections will repeat before others section are even played at all (which was what foobar was doing to me).  So I figured an 11-minute random H&V (which is what it times out to!) is enough, and if you want more, just simply reload the page, and re-roll your dice!  ;)

It must be my computer, because it seems to just stop after an alotted time, as it's never been more than 5 mins  ???

Very Cool !!!

Another way of doing this would be copy all the segments as seperate audio tracks on a CD and then choose the "shuffle" function if your CD player has this option ! You could easily do the same thing with a MP3 playlist.
