Title: Similarities between The Beach Boys and The Beastie Boys compilations
Post by: sheknowsmetoowell on January 01, 2012, 10:20:01 AM
Has anyone ever noticed the similarities between the Beastie Boy's album, "The Sounds Of Science", and the BB's "Sounds Of Summer"? Both are compilation/greatest hits albums, both produced by Capitol, and both have the same spiral design on the disc. The weird thing though, is that The Beastie Boys album came out in 1999, while the BB's came out in 2003. You would think the Beastie's would be mocking the BB's, but it's the other way around?

You've uncovered a top-secret conspiracy — they are in fact the same band!

Evidence?

ARTIST: The B-Boys
ALBUM The S Of S

My error, I didn't know that was how all Capitol CDs look. Well that was silly. But what about titles though? Sounds Of Science, Sounds Of Summer...huhh...huhhhh.

Maybe — they've done that kind of thing before — here's a 1966 record they based their cover/title on:

But the Beastie Boys compilation predates Sounds of Summer by four years.

Unrelated but Beastie Boys In Sound from Way Out is an awesome disc if you've never heard it!

Well, then, clearly The B-Boys were inspired by The B-Boys when making "The S Of S."
