Title: 78 rpm Post by: OneEar/OneEye on December 23, 2011, 03:56:19 PM I recently picked up a bunch of 78's that came in a book/album. They're all in pretty decent condition as far as I can tell, the labels too. They are however, a bit dirty, and wondering what is the best way to clean them (or if there is one/or if I should). I'm not assuming they are worth anything, but I'd simply like to clean them up should the occasion ever come where I could play them (I don't currently have a turn table). Some of them are pretty cool - several Bing Crosby, one or two Judy Garland, Dinah Shore, Ella Fitzgerald.

I can't say much about 78 RPM, other than the ones I had is a kid were different colors as I recall (like Mickey Mouse records and stuff). And of course it was fun to play your regular records at that speed. And the most collectible are blues and rockabilly I think, unless it's the Beatles of course. Title: Re: 78 rpm Post by: earcandy on December 29, 2011, 11:34:33 PM The 78's that I have, I just clean as I normally do regular vinyl albums - that is with a record cleaner (I think mine is called Disc-cleaner - it is a liquid that is applied with a brush tool). I would assume that most record stores (that is, if you can find one that still carries vinyl) would have some sort of cleaner for sale. Just be sure to clean the record WITH the grooves.
