Title: Live shows 1970-1975 with GOOD QUALITY?? Post by: Cabinessenceking on December 22, 2011, 10:36:30 AM I am new to this forum but I would really like to hear some of their live shows from that period which is is so acclaimed, I have heard Beach Boys In Concert, and the Live In Carnegie Hall, but apart from that I only find very, very low quality cuts, the Live in Princeton cut is about as good as it gets... Any suggestions or links?
Thank you all very much! Title: Re: Live shows 1970-1975 with GOOD QUALITY?? Post by: hypehat on December 22, 2011, 10:48:51 AM Hartford 1973 is very good, quality and show-wise (Dennis in particular). Sadly, I don't have my copy any more, but someone should be able to assist us

There was a technical problem with the original mix that obscured certain vocalists, but it's still a pretty enjoyable listen from that great era (albeit frustrating at times) if you're willing to overlook that. At least, it's a pro recording.
http://www.wolfgangsvault.com/the-beach-boys/concerts/fillmore-east-june-27-1971.html I'd add that the '74 Nassau Coliseum show that was broadcast on the FM is another good one from that era, quality and performance-wise, that's worth seeking out. They were still doing stuff like Feel Flows and All This Is That. Though, you're on your own for that one. :) I also like the soundboard portions that exist of the '70 Big Sur performance. PS - The BB's/Grateful Dead one is another short (BB's-wise), but legendary pro recording. There's also some nice TV clips from that era (or audio portions of them) that exist in varying quality. The David Frost Show, Central Park '71, London '72, etc. Title: Re: Live shows 1970-1975 with GOOD QUALITY?? Post by: Cabinessenceking on December 22, 2011, 11:50:29 AM Thanks for great suggestions! Are there any good shows where they play songs from Love You?

There are shows from the '77 tour that circulate where they played quite a few Love You tracks...Seattle, Largo, etc. Though, I'm currently drawing a blank as to which, if any, are soundboards. Getting back to Wolfgang's again, there's a long-circulating, partial, pro '79 show up there, also from the Nassau Coliseum, where they do Roller Skating Child...if you're interested. http://www.wolfgangsvault.com/the-beach-boys/concerts/nassau-coliseum-may-14-1979.html Note: Particularly with some other acts, always take Wolfgang's with a grain of salt. That is, they sometimes get their venues and dates wrong, and have a habit of occasionally tacking on songs from other gigs...even tours. Title: Re: Live shows 1970-1975 with GOOD QUALITY?? Post by: smile-holland on December 22, 2011, 12:04:10 PM 1972: if you're lucky someone might have a decent recording of the May 10th Radio Luxembourg concert. But I enjoy the Munich Germany May 9th gig as well, albeit a bit less audio-wise.
1973: definitely Hartford. 1974: as said the Nassau coliseam concert (June 14th). Or University Of Notre Dame, South Bend, April 20th 1975: only exist in very average quality, but one should at least hear one of the Beachago concerts once in your life. Thanks for great suggestions! Are there any good shows where they play songs from Love You? Good shows from 1977 .... ehm... concerts did get a bit sloppy by then, but Capitol Center Largo , Jan 21st is representive (try to find the video of that one). And the CBS Convention (July 30th) also deserves to be mentioned here. Both contain some Love You songs. He's definitely on something, but not fire. Dennis and Carl had their share of whatever and although the whole thing is interesting to see it's not amazing...by far.... Title: Re: Live shows 1970-1975 with GOOD QUALITY?? Post by: Dunderhead on December 23, 2011, 02:07:11 AM Great topic. Does anybody know if soundboards for the other half of the Big Sur show exist? That's probably my favorite single concert from the era. I always wanted to hear them at the Whiskey too during that era, in the shows that the Rolling Stone review of SU talks about. But I don't think I've ever seen recordings of those.
