Title: Smile Sessions (likely) on Pitchfork's "Top 50 Albums"
Post by: Aegir on December 13, 2011, 05:08:04 AM
Though their list hasn't been released yet (coming December 15th), the preview graphic on their website has a pair of lips that looks a lot like they're from the Smile album cover.

SMiLE is certainly raking in the accolades.  I wonder how much of an effect it's having on the sales.  Obviously, all of the hardcore types bought it right away, but how many new listeners were enticed to check it out as a result of the good reviews?  Hopefully, holiday sales will help to give it another bump.

Nope. which is weird, because the Frank Holmes lips are definitely in the preview graphic. oh well.

Guys, it got a ten.  Bon Iver's album, which won the whole thing, didn't even get a ten.  It had to do with the fact that it was a "re-issue" or whatever, because it was one of the very few tens given out the entire year.  So there's no need to be upset...though I didn't see that graphic art.

It apparently made it to #5 of avantgarde music magazine The Wire's top 50 this year:

(That Lulu thing at #9 has to be a joke, however...)
