Title: Gene Landy and Dennis Wilson Post by: b00ts on November 26, 2011, 05:10:54 PM In Brian's purported autobiography "Wouldn't It be Nice," he mentions that Eugene Landy was planning on intervening with Dennis and imposing his rigid system to save Dennis' life. The book states that there was a plan to intervene right after the new year 1985, and that Landy knew it would be tough since Dennis was not as docile as Brian.
When I read the book, this seemed like more Landy puffery to me. "I saved Brian, and I almost saved Dennis; he only died because I didn't get to him in time." Does anyone know if it's true? "This guy's in terrible shape. I think we should help him, but let's wait a whole year before doing so." Title: Re: Gene Landy and Dennis Wilson Post by: FatherOfTheMan Sr101 on November 26, 2011, 07:57:49 PM Landy is an asshole.
BUT he is probably the most important asshole of all time. After reading Several biographies, I can concur that Landy COULD and WOULD have saved not only Brian, But Dennis, but as stated in another forum, Dennis didn't die due to "Over-Living Life" as I call it, he died unexpectedly, and reportedly piece fully. So, What's Better? a broken Dennis, or a peacefully dead Dennis (of course a perfect, alive Dennis would be preferable :D) Title: Re: Gene Landy and Dennis Wilson Post by: Jay on November 26, 2011, 08:08:47 PM You guys really think Dennis would have put up with Landy? Dennis would have put Landy in the hospital if he(Landy) had tried to get near him. ;)

I do, however, agree that Dennis would not respond well to the tactics Mr. Landy used on Brian. Brian is passive-aggressive and played 'cat-and-mouse' games with Landy, whereas I assume Dennis would be more physically aggressive-aggressive if Landy tried to dominate him like he did Brian. Methinks Landy would have to find another way to get Dennis into his gestalt therapy. Title: Re: Gene Landy and Dennis Wilson Post by: ♩♬🐸 Billy C ♯♫♩🐇 on November 26, 2011, 10:07:28 PM I'm sure he would've used drugs, like he did with Brian. Kept him doped up and docile. I think the fact that Landy did the allegedly more than occasional line though makes me wonder exactly what would have went down. Only issue with the psychiatric meds is that it would have killed his liver faster.

I wonder what she has to say about him? Sorry to hijack the thread, but I figured I'd better post it somewhere before I forgot...again. ;D I've been meaning to mention it for the last six months. :lol

Title: Re: Gene Landy and Dennis Wilson Post by: Andrew G. Doe on November 27, 2011, 12:03:15 AM Was the Brian Wilson scandal the end of Landy's "career"? In terms of 'treating' celebrities, almost certainly yes, although he was still practising when he moved to Hawaii (or at least was listed in the phone book as a psychologist). Regarding the notion of him taking on Dennis, I believe that was floated and then as rapidly shot down: no way DW would have agreed to that. Title: Re: Gene Landy and Dennis Wilson Post by: Jay on November 27, 2011, 12:41:39 AM I think it was Mr. Roach who mentioned that Carl was planning to get a conservatorship(or whatever it's called) over Dennis starting in January of 1984. I wonder how long that may have lasted.

I don't think in '83 Dennis was able to beat up anyone. He would've had no chance against the Surf Nazis I'm afraid Title: Re: Gene Landy and Dennis Wilson Post by: c-man on November 27, 2011, 05:57:26 PM I think it was Mr. Roach who mentioned that Carl was planning to get a conservatorship(or whatever it's called) over Dennis starting in January of 1984. I wonder how long that may have lasted. Carl and Jimmy G. had planned an intervention for Dennis at Caribou Ranch during or right after New Years Day 1984. Sadly, Dennis missed it by only a few days. |
