Title: Is David Leaf Still Around? Post by: endofposts on November 24, 2011, 03:15:07 PM Perhaps this topic has been covered, but is David Leaf still friends with Brian and did he contribute to any of the Smile boxes' material? Since I still haven't gotten around to getting any of the boxes, I'm not sure who wrote all the liner notes, did the interviews, etc. David was such a key part of "Brian Wilson Presents Smile" that I'd think he'd have something to say about the new releases. Are there any recent interviews with David?

Are there any recent interviews with David? Interesting topic: David was listed in the thanks in an early version of the box book, but not in the final version. To the best of my knowledge, he didn't contribute directly to the project. Yes, he's still friends with Brian but has been working on other non-BB projects for a while. [/quote] Thanks, good to know that Brian still sees him. I was wondering about it because I read an online article about the new box sets that recommended watching "Beautiful Dreamer" for background information about "Smile," which made me wonder what happened to David and whether he got any acknowledgment in the box liners. Since it's a Beach Boys' album and not Brian solo, it was likely a committee of people who decided whose names to give thanks to in the booklets. |
