Title: Artwork Fails
Post by: Slow In Brain on November 20, 2011, 11:40:20 PM
We all know and appreciate our favourite pictures and album covers.
Is there anywhere or site that has all the artwork fails ? Did the art departments and designers get it right first time ?

Did Dean Torrence submit other covers other than the final versions ?

My guess is the fails never made it into the public domain, but I'd be interested to see any alternate covers too.

Don't think any alternative sleeves were designed but Dean told me that his initial title suggestion for the 'Love You' album was 'Cowabunga' !
"Because the guys were using the image of a native Indian in their Brother Records logo, I came up with something that looked like a Navajo rug. I actually designed around 80% of the cover while waiting for the title to be finalised. My title offering, "Cowabunga", was obviously not used, but the word looked like a native American word - and it was also related to surfing ..."

How about Keeping The Summer Alive? Instrument plugs going nowhere...penguins and polar bears somehow cohabitating....

While not an LP cover, these two( that I previously posted in the Media section) are alternates for one of their 70's concert programs:
