Title: SMiLE and Wikipedia?
Post by: David Kennedy on November 16, 2011, 08:42:58 PM
I was checking out how Smile was described on Wikipedia and I noticed at the bottom in the Track Listing section it quotes Brian as saying this -Brian Wilson has stated that the exact running order was not decided upon until 2004, and that the original Smile would have been less "uplifting". I have never heard this quote from Brian, is this true? And if so what songs would have been removed or what versions of certain tracks could have been used to make it sound less uplifting?

[sigh]

You see that little [28] after the quote ? Click on it.

Takes you to reference 28. Click on that.

Read page you're taken to.

It says this:

"E.C.: One thing I like about SMiLE is how the tracks flow into one another…

Brian Wilson: That was because of Darian Sahanaja and me. We sequenced it together with computers and Pro-Tools, modern instruments. And it took us about two weeks to do that but we got it all sequenced together.

E.C.: So was that something that you came up with exclusively for the 2004 SMiLE or did you originally intend to use link tracks on the original SMiLE?

Brian Wilson: No, that's 2004."

"E.C.: How close is SMiLE 2004 to what you wanted SMiLE 1967 to be?

Brian Wilson: Much different, much different. Much more progressive, much happier, much more uplifting."

Seriously, if you can't figure out how Wikipedia works, should you be using a computer ?

Wow, I guess so. :(

Mr.Doe, I like and appreciate you and all, but mayhaps you should consider going a bit easier on folks like this?

It doesn't and the word is buffoon which refers to someone else involved in this thread-one guess should do it.

Thanks for the typing lesson, olddude, I have corrected my spelling.
Perhaps you should learn how to quote
