Title: Question about Gee
Post by: Jay on November 03, 2011, 08:48:10 PM
I have a question about the brief acapella snippit of "Gee". On every Beach Boys version that I can remember ever hearing, it always leads directly into a Heroes and Villains chant with music. Is there a version that exists of the group singing the line "How I love my girl", and coming to a complete stop? If so, does it circulate?  I've only heard it as "How I love my girl-diddywadda, Heroes...".

Heroes and Villains Sessions Part 2.

Actually unless I'm misremembering Brian mentions that he is going to "lay down a track" after "How I Love My Girl" and they go right into that which is what Jay is describing.  I don't believe any version ends clean after "How I Love My Girl" because Brian lays down that track.  I think they just naturally flowed into each other on the multi-track tape.  That is my remembrance anyway.

I'm a n00b - is the 2nd part based on another section of "Gee" or was it written by Brian?

Written by Bri - After all, they chant 'Heroes & Villains'.

Ah, wasn't sure, that's why I said "based on". I suppose I could've made myself look like less of an ass by YouTubing it, but hay.

Note to self, read message better next time.

The "Gee" portion of H&V is specifically tracked like that; it's the same on the bootlegged session tape as well. So no such thing as a version stopping after "Gee".
