Title: Frank Holmes Work
Post by: desmondo on October 31, 2011, 06:10:12 AM
Something new to me - on the iTunes LP version you get copies of all the FH artwork

Some are dated 1966 and some are dated 1996 - presume that was in preparation for a release in 96 - or was it

HELP please

PS the pic references the 2004 lyrics for Holidays

His newer artwork is also inculded in the accompanying book to the box set, isn't it?  I hope so anyway, I really want to see it.  I've seen the GV artwork and the MOLC art, but there's a few more newer pieces he did I think.   I bought some prints from him (via his website) back around when BWPS was released, spoke with him on the phone, seemed like a very cool dude.  Absolutely love his artwork too, as unique as the music itself.

I can never get tired of the Smile shop, front cover.

A lazy Mr. Moon on a getaway
And isn't that a mood for a milky way
A ukelele lady around a lei.

These lyrics were written in 2003, right?   Yet, they appear to be depicted visually in one of Frank's 1996 drawings.  Check it out in the corner below the 'Dada' lyrics in the hardcover book.   Stunning coincidence?  Or was VDP inspired by Frank's drawing?

Perhaps a little bit of both? ???

Definitely keen to hear the answer to this one. I think there's a serious chance VDP might have used some vintage lyrics in Holidays.
