The set will contain mono and stereo versions of tracks from "The Early Beatles," "Beatles VI," "Help!" and "Rubber Soul." "Available for a limited time only." The release date on the brochure is April 11.

The tracks are "24 bit re-mastered from the original U.S. master tapes" with 14 tracks issued for the first time on CD in stereo. A 56-page collector’s booklet will include rare photos. The "Help!" original soundtrack with George Martin's orchestral interludes (and James Bond intro) will be on CD. The American "Rubber Soul" features the CD debut of George Martin’s original stereo mixes of the 12 tracks (these were remixed in ‘86-87 for the UK versions of the CD’s)... and the first time the mono mixes will appear on CD.

There will again be two packages: a premium long box and a brick version. TV will get segments for morning and news shows. Promotional video will be serviced to national, regional and local video outlets (i.e. MTV, VH1, VH1 Classics), as well as PBS, United, American & Delta Airlines. A radio special will be serviced to all appropriate radio networks (to air the weekend before release).

Update (3/7/06) We're getting more whispers that "Capitol Albums, Vol. 2" is more than a rumor. An official announcement may be just around the corner, if the whispers we're hearing are correct.

I didn’t buy vol. 1. I certainly want improved sound quality on the Beatle CDs, but won’t Capitol surely release the british versions of the albums in similar fashion? If they don’t, they are fools. I’m holding out for that. Otherwise, a clever person could probably concoct the correct versions of the albums out of the USA jumble. I sure as heck don’t need the Help soundtrack, and in both mono and stereo no less.

These are for collectors Bubba.  "Revolver" would be in Volume 3.  It goes chronologically.  And it's not a matter or concocting them from the correct versions of the albums.  These are nostalgic releases for US fans but they also have many unique mono/stereo mixes not currently available on CD or in this kind of sound quality.  Of course, we'll all buy the albums again when they are finally properly remastered like we've all been waiting for.  But just because these boxes aren't your cup of tea, doesn't mean they are of little worth.

But will the normal releases also carry both the stereo/mono versions? That is the question. I would like both versions, but in the Beatle approved order.

If Revolver is in Vol. 3, what else will there be? Only Revolver and Yesterday/Today remain from the “American” catalog. Anything thereafter will be albums in their proper format, so Vol. 3 would hold legitimate releases.

Volume 3 would also have to have "Hey Jude" and "Hollywood Bowl"

Hey Jude maybe, but no mono tracks as it was a pure stereo lp, US Rarities?, Hollywood Bowl was also released in the UK...why noy Sgt Pepper & Mystery Tour in mono only...

There are still differences.. no dog whistle or "never could be any other way, never could be any other way" or whatever the hell they say at the end of Day in the Life.

To me, it always sounds like "Lucy had it all the way, Lucy had it all the way" ad infinitum. Playing it backwards, it sounds like "We'll fcuk you like Superman, we'll fcuk you like Superman" ad infinitum..................

Haven't there been other threads where the general consensus was the Beatles UK albums might never be remastered because the surviving Beatles and Yoko don't give a merda and can't agree on anything. Anyway I'm looking forward to Capitol Albums Vol.2!  ;D

This set is due April 11th. That is the official word from EMI as of today.

Even though I now have it on CD, I stilll have the urge to listen to my Meet the Beatles! vinyl all the time.. I have to stop myself.

This question is for Capitol Albums Vol.1 too, okay here it goes: Are the stereo versions on these sets the duophonic (fake stereo) mixes from 40 years ago that have been cleaned up for reissue, or did they actually get the master tapes and do a true stereo mix?

Exact same mixes, and they are almost all true stereo, with the exception of maybe 10 tracks.

This is true for Vol.1 & Vol.2 ?

Stereo has been around for over 60 years, man!
Mass-market stereo LPs have been around since 1958 or so.

Did you think everything was mono back then?

Some of the early copies of Cap Vol 2 that have already been shipped from the manufacturing plant/s only have mono fold-down mixes (prepared in 2006) of the stereo masters for Help and Rubber Soul instead of the true mono mixes done back in the day, so caveat emptor (and instant collectors item for those people into such things).......................

Gosh...I wonder if I had a "defective one" in my hand...I held a copy Sunday April 9 at my local used record store...sealed....with a US import sticker on it...didn't buy it though as it isn't supposed to come out til April 11 and thought it might be cheaper at the big record outlet...it was 63.99 Canadian dollars...with taxes it would have been $73.00...

The UK Telegraph reports that what is being described as a new Beatles album with "completely new music" will be released in conjunction with the opening of the Cirque show. "It (the show) involves the creation, by the re-mixing and re-mastering of the Beatles' recorded performances, of completely new music, which will be featured in the show, and which should lead to the release of the show album," says Neil Aspinall. The show is said to have access to unreleased, as well as, released Beatles music for use in the production. Paul and Ringo are contributing, but will not appear in it. Neither will Sir George Martin, who is overseeing the music. (Comment: What this sounds like, of course, is the show soundtrack that will, if published indications are correct, include some Beatles music. Whether it will include actual unreleased songs or just unreleased musical fragments isn't known at this stage.

Should I buy this thing or wait for the real albums to be released?

It hurts but I'm not touching vol 2 til I get more reviews on amazon or here...In fact, I didn't get Volume 1 yet so maybe I'll go for that one since it seems to be the real deal as far as mono/stereo mixes.

I have Vol.1, but I don't think I'll have the money to buy vol.2 for at least a few more months.

WEll, it's about time! To hell with the USA albums, I'll wait for the good stuff...

I would have considered buying a four cd boxed set of the U.S. versions of Help, Rubber Soul, Yesterday and Today (Butcher art restored preferably) and Revolver but as they are the two Beatles U.S. album sets don't interest me much and I'd rather wait for improved versions of the U.K. albums. Make it all sound as good as the Yellow Submarine Songtrack and include mono mixes if possible on the earlier stuff and I'd be a happy guy.

I knew nothing about this new release. Ive got the 1st volume , i'm looking forward to getting the 2nd . The sound was excellent on the first. The first real Beatle Cd's I've heard that sound good ( apart for the YS songtrack)
I think they could manage a 3rd box too

Y&T/ Revolver/ Sgt Pepper  And MMT

I know the last  2 are copys of the UK albums but it's an  ideal opportunity to put out Mono versions of them both. Also you'd get the original duophonic tracks on MMT if that turns you on.

Having said that I hoped Pepper would be getting a 40th anniversary box set treatment next year. But then I hoped the same for Revolver.. still not too late, didn't  it come out in Aug 66?

It would be great to get Mono Pepper and MMT on CD...the EP MMT in mono is way too much $$$$...But since the LPs are the same as UK it seems unlikely...

Other contenders are the Hey Jude, US Rarities & Hollywood Bowl.

I dont know why that cant just put all the LP's out as single CD's...Having mono/stereo of each LP separately...and maybe a few deluxe versions....Heck they have released 3 different CD versions of Live at Leeds and The Byrds Sweethear of the Rodeo...why not a guaranteed seller like the Beatles?
