I'm looking forward to the unboxing videos (though I don't want to see any male masturbation, I'm not into that guys!)

Personally I shall be photographing myself buying SMiLE and posting it on this very thread, because I am a tragically sad individual. I want a permanent record of the moment I bought SMiLE to be online forever, or until this board is hacked again, whichever comes sooner

Suspect we're more likely to see a photo of Andrew in pith helmet, rifle balanced on knee, with one booted-foot resting on Phil Cohen's prostrate body and the SMiLE box tucked triumphantly under his arm, big game style.

I see Phil's now been kicked off the Imwan board… does AGD have these board's icons stenciled on the front wing of his car?

Can we please unban Phil so he can join in on the discussion with us? Enough is enough, I'm sick of hearing the same stupid sh*t said about Phil over and over again. Hopefully the guy has somebody to talk about the box with, I know I'd be kind of bummed if I didn't have anywhere to post about the thing when it finally came out. The whole debacle with him is so stupid and overblown,

I plan to make many posts about how the tracklist isn't up to the hypothetical 1967 tracklist. Will I be banned?

I'm sure even AGD will be bitching about how something or other in the liner notes isn't totally pedantically accurate. Will he be banned?

Yeah, I really don't get why Andrew is acting the way that he is. The way he was carrying on about the smile promo thing was really...odd.

that's it. It's not like he's been on the street corner with a sign saying "repent! the smile box will not have the capitol promo!". He just noticed something was missing in the tracklist, commented on it, and moved on. How many other posters have done the *exact same thing* regarding their favorite smile fragment? Andrew however, did not feel it prudent to move along. I've seen him making posts about this on all three boards, and he's done his damndest to build it up into ridiculous proportions. What exactly was your point Andrew? So something Phil was dissapointed might not be on the box, turned out to be on the box after all? Good, I'm sure Phil is glad. Why do you feel such a desire to rub it in his face? To be such a dick about it? It feels really petty, and as much as you accuse Phil of being obsessive, the way that you drew this little comment from Phil out to be some massive humiliation is just ridiculous, and makes almost no sense.

Andrew just needs to let things go, because at this point it seems he's just been purposely goading Phil, probably with the intent of getting him banned from all relevant message boards, just to teach him a lesson for going against the holy wisdom of Beach Boys "insiders"

If Beatles fans take Mr.Doe's bait, they, not Mr.Doe, will be banished from the forums at the IMWAN, Steve Hoffman & Smiley Smile websites). Why is that? Because Mr.Doe's pedigree and stature as the operator of a Beach Boys statistics/trivia website gives him the special priveleges to engage in the same sort of online misbehavior that would get his opponents banned.

With respect to the "Smile Sessions" box, things could have easily gone in the opposite direction, and Al Jardine or Mike Love's lawyers could have found fault with the box, and gotten a court injunction to cause the cancellation or lengthy postponement of the box set. If that had happened, would I have been repeatedly been gloating about it to humiliate Mr. Doe? No, I would not have been gloating. Such a postponement or cancellation would have been a sad way to end The Beach Boys' career. It would have been no cause for celebration.

Thanks to all who favored my reinstatement. Obviously, my prediction that the box set wouldn't be released was(fortunately) incorrect, but the five months of silence from Capitol caused me to worry, particularly because of the less than friendly relations between Brian, Mike & Al....not to mention past history(I.E. the 18 month postponement of the "Pet Sounds Sessions" box). I just wish that Capitol hadn't put us through five months of worry. It was a stressful bummer.

The issue is not so much the moderators allowing people to express differing opinions, rather, it is more to do with the fact that the general membership finds themselves more in disagreement over the "wrong" opinion. I receive PMs and emails left and right from people who want member X banned for any number of reasons that basically boil down to "I think he's wrong". You want to be able to express YOUR opinion but if someone else doesn't agree with your own opinion, then it's ok to throw him/her under the bus. A lot of the double standards among the membership here border on fascism; we're talking beyond mere hypocrisy. This includes the double standards of several people who know a thing or two.

However, we mods are often stuck with a situation in which a certain poster posts sh*t that a sizable amount (but neither a plurality nor majority) of posters believe is worthy of a ban. Others don't much care. However, if the folks who want the member banned don't get their way, they usually leave or start trolling the forum themselves. It's a vicious circle. And don't get the mods started on what happens when the mods have opinions the membership dislike...

I do believe that a lot of folks on here would benefit from a break from the internet for a while. As I've stated so many times before, we have discussions here. They get heated. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. Grow thicker skins. If you're that worried about what someone posting on the internet from hundreds of miles away thinks of your opinion, do us all a favor and get off of the internet. You'll do yourself a lot of good in the process.

I'm glad to read such an honest response, as it genuinely worries me that someone gets banned for an opinion, and is hounded off by a minority whilst a silent majority do nothing. This is nothing to do with the internet, more a sad reflection of human nature. Glad to hear you don't condone this.

The only time I'm all for banning someone is if and only if their continued membership is only causing problems on top of problems for people here. For example, the alleged "drunk" comment by buddhahat a while ago was addressed very quickly and was known to be just a flippant, offhand remark. That's not worthy of a ban. Someone like ghost for example...sure, he was funny at times but the posts about "Aryan this and that" (his posts about Marilyn had me quite disgusted) would definitely sit the wrong way with people. I'm personally all for people speaking their minds regardless of subject as I believe it is a fundamental human right, but when it steps on the toes of others, sometimes you can't just tell others to "ignore" it. I do believe we were justified in banning him on that alone. Kirkmc was antagonizing Scott Totten on here a while back and when I took him to task privately, he made it public and decided to go on a homophobic rampage.

I think we can all agree that you're going to be banned if one or more of these qualifications are met -

1) Threats or any speech that cause undue and unnecessary stress, worry, or grief to another poster or someone in the Beach Boys organization
2) Posting PRIVATE message content on the board without express permission of the party involved

Here I am arriving home with my super-deluxe box-set with enclosed surfboard.

The nudity was a conscious choice. I wanted to collect SMiLE in my natural state, almost like a baptism, a rebirth if you like.

Banning the guy in the first place was wrong IMO, and the schoolyard mentality that rears its crummy little head round here is often disappointing. Considring the history, he can't be blamed for being fearful there would be problems with the release. Maybe he came on too strong with some of it, but then people come on awful strong here about a lot of things. Thankfully, for all of us, Phil's concerns turned out to be unfounded, but give the guy a break, stop this middle school mentality and extend the peace pipe. In the spirit of Smile it would be the right thing to do.

Yes. I haven't decided to actually "unbox", and possibly planning to display it sealed, I photoed it beneath my framed set of slicks and B&W stat of the original cover, so as to get a sense of how it would in the room:

I lost the other photo in a mishap; BUT, amazingly and incredibly, whle I was out on a surfing safari this past weekend, UPS brought me a stupendous surprise box!
and inside the box was this pretty gem with the great sticker( I LOVE stickers!!!!!!)
MONSTROUS THANK YOUs to the responsible!! I love it!!
Which also means I'm now able to pop the seal on the box I bought from Deep Discount and actually look at the book...

I actually did a new one. The first one was terrible (shaky camera and all) yes it does document me opening the box for the first time, but the quality was so poor that I had to redo it. At the same time I might take this one down too. Watching it I had a sudden realization about how ridiculous unboxing videos are. Sure it's fun and all, but who wants to see some guy alone in his apartment opening a box set? Anyway hope you like it
