Title: What happened to Phil on IMWAN?
Post by: doinnothin on October 22, 2011, 05:27:27 PM
I was really looking forward to reading his response to the Smile Sessions actually coming out, but I just saw that got banned and the offending post has been removed. What happened?

Also, any body know another board he posts on? I really get a kick out of reading his stuff now and then.

Phil was pasting & copying stuff I said from a thread over on the Hoff, I'm told by the admin - didn't see it myself - and using it to have a go at me (my basic point was that a lot of Beatles fans still think they did everything first and best, and it's getting bloody boring).

Oddly, the only BB-related board I've seen him on recently is the Bloo, again wailing about being banned from Imwan: I'd say he's in with a good shout at being barred from four different boards by Christmas !  ;D

The man was starting to sound like friggin' Alex Jones. At the end of the day, Brian saying "maybe" to the question of will Smile come out this year became Phil's "pull it" line. He seeks conspiracies in everything and most of it comes from a strange paranoia and his constant self-aggrandizement. When people were speculating (incorrectly) that Ghost may have been responsible for this board shutting down, he went off on other message boards claiming that he was being accused. Because, of course, we must have been talking about him. The fact that he (and others) wraps up his aggressive sense of entitlement in a faux presentation of anti-corporate activism is just laughable from the perspective of a person who has spent the last 10 years involved in actual real-life activism (which surprisingly has nothing to do with complaining about not receiving track listings or threatening boycotts).

I'm doing fine. I was banished from IMWAN for (correctly) quoting one of Mr.Doe's posts(posted on the Hoffman forums). Well, The Beach Boys' "The Smile Sessions" box has now been released, and much of my feuding with Mr.Doe has concluded and is now (largely) a moot point, but the folks who run the IMWAN forum still have a grudge against me.

At Steve Hoffman's forum, I was banished 2 years ago, for asking why one of my posts was removed. I didn't know that(under their rules) that the question must be asked privately through their message system. For this very slight violation of their rules, Hoffman's gang of unpaid censors haven't forgiven me after 2 years. Mr.Hoffman(a mastering engineer who specialises in "audiophile" vinyl & 24-Kt.Gold CD releases) has an overwhelming paranoia, that if any participants in his forum express views unflattering to the big music corporations, that music moguls will misconstrue those views to be Hoffman's own opinions, and then they won't send any more projects to Mr.Hoffman for mastering. And there's some music biz sacred cows that can't be criticized there, including the industry's irrational viewpoint that the uploading, downloading or copying of permanently unreleased music causes monetary losses for the industry.

This was the actual situation. People initially thought that I was the last person to be banished(very briefly) from this forum prior to the hacking attack(by a Bangladesh-based cybercrime organization) against the Smiley Smile website, and some people were inferring(on other forums) that I had something to do with this criminal hacking activity.  Then, as it so happened, "Ghost" was the last person to be banished prior to the hacking attack, so people were making the same (false) accusations against "Ghost". Some of the people making comments about me were trying to be humorous("You wouldn't happen to be from Bangladesh, would you, Phil?"), but, understandably, I didn't think it was very funny.
