-obviously both geniuses -both had supportive wives but left them at times -a fellow but jelous musician (Mozart: Sallerrie...BW: George Martin) -others very unsure of their writing, but the end result surprised them -both very influencial fathers -both attended mad-hatters-tea-party-like atmospheres dont know much about Mozart's personal problems, looks as though very dependent on alcohol...any drugs? anymore to add? - both are genuis - Brian is deaf in one ear, Beethoven became completely deaf - they both suffered from depression - both worked on a project for a very long time (SMiLE and the 9th) - both work were supposed to be an "ode to joy" - both used poets for the lyrics, Brian used Van Dyke, Beethoven used Schiller - both were male ( ;)) Title: Re: Parrallels of Mozart & Brian Wilson Post by: Rocker on March 13, 2006, 02:58:57 PM Btw, how about some parralles between Brian and Beethoven: Compare Brian with Goethe, especially "Smile" and "Faust". Both took a long time to finish. I know, Goethe was a writer, but I think it makes sense to compare those works. 1st page to Mozart's Piano Concerto in A major K. 488 (March, 1786): (http://www.henle.de/pics/noten/3216_1.gif) The instruments listed on the left of his score are (from the top): 1st Violins 2nd Violins Violas Flutes Clarinets(2 staves) Horns (2 staves) Bassoons Solo Piano (2 staves of course) Cellos and Bass (together on 1 stave) However, I agree that Brian compares more with Beethoven rather than Mozart.
