Does anyone know what it is, why Brian was wearing it, what day these were taken? Unfortunately, Brian seemed quite fond of that shirt - seen pics of him wearing it dated 10/66 and 2/67 (without the pendant). If pressed, I'd have to say fall 1966, but that's just a best guess. They have a few competition-striped surf shirts (or at least they used to. might need to check ebay!).

Ebay is the place where i have seen some cool really vintage surf shirts, american aparrel has decent ones witch i might buy in the future for christmas. It is a Native American symbol used to keep nightmares away. Common to many of the Western Plains Tribes.

The repro's stripe was only on the front too, I think, whereas BW's original went all the way round.
