Title: The NOW People
Post by: Don't Back Down on March 11, 2006, 10:04:37 AM
Has anyone else heard their stuff? I'm listening to them now through myspace and really smooth sound. Great arrangements and vocals. Probyn & Nelson are apart of it.

This is fucking great!!!! Finally a band with a real 60's pop sound, a real Beach Boys & Beatles influence! I love there cover of A Town Without Pity. When does the album come out?

Steve Stanley also writes some of the liner notes for Rev-ola reissues of 60s pop classics.  (I've seen the ones he did for the Mark Eric and Chris Lucey cds... He did a great job of digging up info on these obscure artists!)  :3d

I saw their first gig in 5 years about a week and a half ago at Spaceland in Silverlake where they played their upcoming album in its entirety (shades of a Brian Wilson show?). Probyn Gregory and Nelson Bragg are indeed part of this collective. Steve Stanley is the frontman and if the pop geeks who have read his liner notes have never heard Steve sing, you are in for a treat. My wife wrote a blog about the show at the Brian Wilson Band Myspace page.

Their record is coming out in a couple of months on Ric Menck's label.
