Title: Stravinski influence on OMP melting cello part?
Post by: buddhahat on September 19, 2011, 07:24:29 AM
Could this be the inspiration for the melting stings part in Old Master Painter, and the ending to the 'new' Heroes mix?

Go to 2.20. As far as I can tell this descending note marks the end of the 'Presto' section and a sort of transition into the next part. It's certainly similar to what Brian was doing but coiincidence, or was he a Stravinski fan?

Funny, i always hear a Song of the Nightingale influence in Disney. And there's a Disney influence on Song Cycle. I don't think a descending glissando is that uncommon that it would give one reason to believe that the ending of OMP might come directly from Song of the Nightingale. Actually, Brian did a much more similar thing with the trombones on Here Today.

Cool. I'm not a classical buff so am not familiar with this type of glissandro effect outside of smile!

FWIW, I like that there's a "shaded dog" in the picture...
