Sometimes he looks melancholy, deep, profound - exactly like the author of Surf's Up and Till I Die. Other times he appears estranged, dissociated, ghostlike, absent, gone - like the guy who wrote his funeral music with A Day In The Life Of A Tree. In the Landy shots Brian looks eccentric, knowingly so, radiant in his genius and high abstract intelligence. Please do not misunderstand Brian Wilson people- he was and remains an intelligent man. He was always known as the brains in the group. What, do you think Dennis was thought of as the intellectual? Carl? Al? Mike? Bruce? Get out of here. Dennis was too busy with girls, Carl was too busy trying to lose weight, Al was too busy studying pictures of teeth, Mike was seeking cures for baldness in China, and Bruce was seeking shorter shorts at all tiems.
