I watched the entire "Rock Revolution" doc but didn't see that part. Is it available anywhere else? It never occurred to me how great the wahalaloolei melody was. The music was reconstructed by examining what keys Brian was playing on the piano.

Brian is NOT playing what's heard there. Whatever he is playing is much more in keeping with his piano style: repeated right hand chords, and simple bass notes in the left hand. He's no way playing that melody with his left hand, as the film implies. Furthermore, the hands are much farther apart than the faked music on the soundtrack is. It's near impossible to see what he is playing there, thanks to the lighting, but it's something like the end of Surf's Up, or the Wind Chimes stack-o-pianos section. Or pretty much any of Brian's 'feels'. I hear similarities in rhythm but not much in the way of music.
